If you're going to get personal with me, I'll happily get personal with you.

As I said already, you "dump" in threads all the time. Don't be a hypocrite.

I'm not deflecting from anything. I stated my opinion that I think the recent output of the bands being discussed has been mediocre, you jumped in for no reason, and here we are. It is okay to post negative opinions on this website, y'know.

You have no point. This has to be one of the most pointless conversations I've had on this website.

I think people are getting upset with you because you essentially implied that you can't continue to enjoy the music you liked as a kid or a teenager well into adulthood. You don't have to "grow out" of the things you love when you're young, nor do you have to value them only for nostalgic reasons. No one is less cultured or less enlightened than you for continuing to enjoy Sum 41 or Blink-182. Sharing negative/dissenting opinions is one thing, but your initial post seemed unnecessarily judgmental, to me.

I still enjoy all of Blinks older stuff but California didn't do it for me. It's okay to not like something ya know.

I don't think I implied that - I literally said in one of my posts that I still have a lot of nostalgia for Green Day's old stuff and I'd love to see them live one day. My first post was a bit sassy, sure, but people post comments like that all the time on this site. Weird how certain users don't get called out on it.

Right, I'm just saying that it's possible to still love all those bands for what they're doing now as much as for nostalgic reasons. I'm not much of a Blink or Sum 41 guy, but I thought the last Green Day record was really great and grappled with modern crises in interesting ways. You mocked someone for anticipating albums from bands they liked, which, yes, that does happen elsewhere on the site, but was also still bound to draw some ire. Just because your music tastes have moved in a different direction doesn't mean everyone else's have, and that's totally fine.

Yep, I'm well aware of all of this. Happy to admit I was being an asshole. Compared to some of the comments on this site though, my comment was nothing. Surprised it has got so many people so riled up.

  15. The last NFG album was very good too. I don't think any of the bands listed are past their primes.

I think Sum41’s last album was their best since Chuck, including one of their best song ever Goddamn Iam Dead again....and I still enjoy and giving a chance to every new album from the bands I like. And Iam glad they are still around because I feel like there is too much terrible music in this genre lately....I don’t know I grew up with those bands and Iam 27....and honestly I don’t feel like I last my prime either yet haha

I feel like these guys are such a consistent band overall. Did you like Screaming Bloody Murder? I think that one gets left out of the convo a lot of the time but I love it too.

I taking Screaming Bloody Murder as the darker sibling to Underclasses Hero.Sounds very similar to me and they are both my least favorite.I still listen to them sometimes but they both aren’t ,,My” Sum41.Iam just not into Deryck’s voice on both albums....When I heard Fake My Own Death when the single came out I got that real Sums itch I hadn’t since I heard No Reason for the first time back in 2004 haha....plus the whole 13 voices album was my soundtrack on road trip from Boston to LA for the whole 10 days since it was only cd we got in the car....so I fucking love that record

13 Voices plays like a greatest hits for me, has the heavier stuff, punk stuff, poppier stuff, ect. It is a great comeback record.

Excatly,Can’t wait for the new record. Also this is Green Day thread,so I wasn’t big on anything since American Idiot BUT I love and respect their 90s stuff so much that I’ll keep checking out new stuff forever. They were the first band I’ve ever seen as 13yo and to this day it’s still one my favorite shows I’ve ever been at.And I was on a lot of shows since I moved to the States haha.WHAT A GREAT BAND

Also I going to checking out this vintage store in East Village,NYC every once in a while, and last time I was there, the lady told me that I missed Billy Joe shopping there about the couple minutes. It was like someone stole my birthday present or something haha

I think every single Sum 41 album is good (my favorites are actually Chuck, UH and SBM) but I just could not get into 13 Voices at all for some reason outside of Goddamn I'm Dead Again. I tried so many times and just barely any of it clicked. Really hope I can connect with their next release

Recent albums from old bands imo:

    Revolution Radio>California>Makes Me Sick>13 Voices
