Next Show: Jamie xx -- 1/12

Mine was scheduled to be delivered Saturday and I waited at home all day for the USPS site to say there was a delivery attempted and a note left. Total lie. :sly:

  10. Oh man, that's a drag. I was hoping for a new version. If the rip found today is legit, I'm surprised they'd include such a low-res demo.

Been listening to this pretty regularly since Friday. This is an emotionally challenging album for me, given circumstances surrounding the band itself that did not exist for me when the singles were being released in the spring and summer.

As a result, there are songs on this record that I once associated with positive memories but now cause me pain, juxtaposed with new music existing in an entirely new head space. It's a weird way for me to approach an album, and not a circumstance I've ever found myself in before. Additionally, the subject matter of the record itself lends itself to conjuring up a lot of feelings, so, coupled with the songs that have already been "tainted" in away, it leads to quite an emotional experience.

With that being said, I was pretty sure I hated it after my first listen. That has since dramatically changed. I don't think it's a particularly easily accessible album, but there's a lot of reward for those that opt to stick with it. As many others have already iterated here, "I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)" is unquestionably one of the best songs this band has written, and it absolutely tears me to pieces every time I hear it. Collectively, I think this may be their strongest album, though I do think songs like "Somebody Else" and "If I Believe You" rise above anything on this record individually, sans the aforementioned closer.

Didn’t see anybody answer this - they’re on the official 1975 store in the UK at least. Can’t speak for the US though. Music For Cars isn’t though - maybe that’s because of the confusion with the era or whatever. I had to get Music For Cars from Banquet. But the rest of the EPs are only £10 each. White vinyl.

Mine finally left Ferndale and arrived in Phoenix this morning, but will not be delivered to my home IN PHOENIX until Friday. Makes zero sense.

  15. thank you! Music For Cars is the one I want the most so thanks for directing me to Banquet

Yeah, I called them yesterday and Banquet only had stock of Sex and Music For Cars! I had Music For Cars off them but got the rest from the official store. Hope I didn’t get the last one :|

  17. I just ordered MFC and it went through so hopefully I'm good! I've wanted it for a long time

I thought shipping would be way worse to the US

Banquet are usually wicked, yeah. Though their site does say they have stock of them all and they don’t...should probably sort that. Never had any trouble with them though! Glad you sorted it :)

To be honest, vinyl showing up late is just kind of the name of the game when you pre-order unfortunately. At least that's how it seems to be for me. Mine never show up on time.

They sold this and a t-shirt for $19.75 right when "Give Yourself A Try" was announced. I have one... mostly a bunch of world-building stuff, plus a GYAT poster, rectangle sticker, and typewritten note from Matty. You can probably find screenshots on Tumblr/Google, but the note says (typos theirs):

Did you see the posters? It's me, again. The umbrella of Music For Cars. Let's forget about that for now, that comes later. What matters is a A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. I've not finished anything yet everything changes so fast and there's so many young people and I'm very gracious humbled to still be accpted on the internet considering my identity and there's an anxiety to the 3rd that isn't present in the first or second or fourth --

I never preorder vinyl unless it’s a special package because stores normally get them before I do

Yeah frustrating as. Especially when a band is on tour and you notice the album is available at the merch stand - but you can’t buy it seeing as you’ve already preordered.

This album is REALLY starting to come together as a whole for me.
