    what a waste of wood

When “The Man Who Married A Robot” first started I really thought I was gonna hate it but it’s actually pretty clever and works well

I had a bit of a tangent in a conversation about it with a friend where I've never been into a band really early into their career who become massive, household names like Muse or Radiohead or whatever but I genuinely think in 10, 15 years maybe, The 1975 are going to become that.

A cool thing about the last record is you could listen to any side of it like an EP. I wonder how this album will do with that kinda intake

  4. So I went back at the beginning. They came out with such a bang with the EPs. S/T holds up better than I thought, though I still have a hard time dissociating myself from the slight disappointment I felt at the time, and so I prefer the EPs over it.

As for ILIWYS, just looking at the tracklist I was like:

What an album. They truly came into their own with this one.

Excited to have my first listen of the new one tomorrow.

Anyone else think that they should mash Tootime up with She's American or the Sound live?

Engraved on the vinyl: "If I don't get to see the beauty of the end of culture, then at least I've seen the culture of the end of reality."

I’m not sure if I’m ready to give my final thoughts on it after one listen but it’s very very good.

I was really only a fan of tracks 6-12 on the last record and always wanted this band to explore a bit more of their “darker” side rather than stuff like The Sound and they did that to perfection here.

“Love It If We Made It” is a perfect pop song.

I’m so fucking pissed my vinyl didn’t come. Ugh.

Also...again...I don’t see why he hates anti so much. It’s a great song and it’s not like it reached any type of acclaim/popularity that they should feel disdain playing it, especially with such an influx of new fans who never heard the track. It was honestly the track that made me think “oh wow this band has serious potential” while simply grooving to the others. Plus capricious in a song is sweet.

I’m salty because I want to see them go nuts at the end of the song live and I fear it will never happen. Meanwhile I’m stuck with fucking chocolate lol

Is it okay to admit this is a good album but just not get it?

It’s cool seeing people enjoying the album, I’m glad there’s another community release like this.. I just feel sad bc i don’t feel like I can hop on this train and be fully committed. Albums good tho.

It definitely takes a more committed listen to pick everything up. I think being present for everything that came before plays a huge role in “getting it.”

  18. Drive Like I Do's album (?) is blowing my mind. They had all of these songs ready to go in 2009 already? The contrast in the production is kind of amazing, it sounds a bit more conventional obviously, but I love how much these rawer versions remind me of UK pop rock of that era. I guess they started deeply experimenting with electronic music gear and softwares not long after? If some of you have never heard the pre-The 1975 stuff outside of 102, go for it. Or maybe you all have and I'm just so late

I just think it's pretty boring, overall. I don't think it's as experimental or revolutionary as all the press/reviews makes it out to be. It sounds like a Bon Iver / Frances and the Lights to me. I wish they didn't go full autotuned electro pop, as I think they shine more on their more organic pop/rock songs.

I definitely spoiled my experience by overplaying the shit out of some of their singles too, I'll try (and probably fail) to go into Notes a little more blind.

I kinda missed all the interviews and press and promo, the marketing campaign etc. and I just heard this album and I'm half lost. Like if you're not committed to this band I feel like maybe you miss everything that this album "means". Does that make sense?
