The 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th highest paid QBs are currently not in the playoffs.

 

We also invested 2 1st round picks in our QB and will also likely invest a lot more. But regardless, do you legitimately see us as contenders in the AFC? Do you think we can go into New England and Kansas City and win?

 

Honestly though we've been arguing this through the wrong binary. You never have to choose between a Ramsey and a Wentz. Any sensible team would keep all their A grade players and get rid of B grade players instead. If these are my options:

A) Ramsey & Jack, but lose Carson Wentz-level quarterback
B) Jack & Wentz-level QB, but lose Jalen Ramsey
C) Ramsey & Wentz, but lose Myles Jack

I'm taking option C ALL FUCKIN DAY. You need top priority players on both sides of the field.

Dude, the only reason I say no is the offensive line. If Watson had more time yeah he could put up numbers with Mahomes while Clowney and Watt fucked up the Chiefs offense from time to time. Texans defense is fucking scary man and you have the passing game to put up points at any time. Watson / Hopkins / Coutee / D. Thomas? Fuller not even unleashed right now because he's on IR? Come on.

I'm not sure what actually happened in real life, but I just wanted to say how much I love Moneyball. That was my favorite movie that year and is an all timer for me. Absolutely love it.

 

A lot of the lack of ability to invest in the offensive line comes from paying guys like Watt, Mercilus, Hopkins, etc. I'm not saying I regret any of those signings at all, but it is a cause and effect at play here. And when it's time to pay Deshaun Watson, we're gonna see a lot more cause and effect at play.

I mean, but you've also had both your OT's get hurt lol. I think even your starting lineup on the OL could be enough to make you a contender. Imagine a Texans that was as healthy as we were last year.

The Saints are the best well rounded team in the league. Every other team has some kind of glaring problem about them, from what I can tell.

It's a great movie, but they 100% glossed over having 3 Cy Young worthy starting pitchers. It's sooooo much easier to start Scott Hatteberg at first base when Barry Zito is 23-5 and Mark Mulder is 19-7. It also kinda ignored that Miguel Tejada and Eric Chavez were studs. Great flick, but that Athletics team had some absurd talent hidden underneath the pile of crap lol
