Think my favorites are Camp Cope, Mitski, Oneohtrix Point Never, Tim Hecker, Deafheaven, and this, but there’s been sooooooo much good music this year. I even got back into pop-punky stuff thanks to Direct Hit! and Spanish Love Songs.

  3. And next year has Jimmy, Copeland, Carly Rae, and Bad Religion already locked in.

  7. I've played that Night Verses album a fuck-ton too.

I quit. No list from me. Too much.

My top 10 right now are (probably) Caitlyn Smith, Ruston Kelly, Andrew McMahon, Kacey Musgraves, Lori McKenna, Brian Fallon, Matt Nathanson, Donovan Woods, Death Cab for Cutie, and Eric Church. Any of the first four could turn out to be my album of the year. This 1975 record could sneak in, for sure.

Yeah, I think it's going to be a very different kind of album from him.

  12. lol this year was ridiculous. I forgot about both of those when I was just tossing together a huge list of things I need to find out how rank.

I still can’t believe how good the guitar riffs in “Its Not Living” are. Funny that might be my favorite track now, it was probably my least favorite of the singles before I heard the rest of the album.

  14. It Looks Sad, Mitski, Kississippi, Gulfer, Restorations, awakebutstillinbed, noname, Doe, illuminati hotties, young jesus, hop along all deserve mentions....jeeze i could go on for a LONG time

The harmonies during the verses are sooo cool, especially since it’s almost like he’s yelling

Those two have really stuck in my rotation. Surprisingly so, for the Death Cab record.

  17. it's funny i think this is the first album of theirs that I don't see as being clearly broken into thirds

There are albums I really cannot get into by bands I like a lot, such as Thrice and Joyce Manor but there are still more good albums this year than like any other year

Pale Waves was okay, but I wish the art direction was different. The cover for that album is not liable to catch anyone's eye, ever

  25. Some great songs on there, we'd just heard most of them and they didn't flow together. Ended up being all over the place.

Next year's Japanese House album ... I don't think will suffer from that problem.
