More than Wentz.

 

If he plays like he has been since we got Cooper, then he'll rightfully get extended but I'm hoping that Dak knows he can make a TON of money on the side with endorsements and takes a team friendly deal. No clue if that has a chance though.

In terms of pay:

Prescott < Wentz < Watson < Mahomes < Mayfield

(unless Prescott gets franchise tagged which would be hilarious)

 

Wentz will get more than Goff because the Eagles are a more desperate team. If they were built like the Jags I'd say let him walk

If the Jags had Wentz I'd be fine losing some older defensive studs to keep him, honestly. He'd be a top priority young core player to resign, alongside Ramsey, Jack, and Yannick.

He's come down to Earth a bit this year but he's still a very good quarterback.

 

Regarding Wentz, if we can get back to what he was last year next year than I'm cool with giving him that money. He's been good this year but not great. I do think it's his knee though, he hasn't been planting off of his left foot.

 

Which team is gonna pay Funchess a bunch of money?

 

We were good for one year, just long enough for people to stop feeling bad about us and start relishing making fun of us again

 

The Jags are so last year. The Chiefs are so this year.

 

I wonder if this season is different if Fournette doesn't miss 7 whole games, 3/4 of two other games, half of this Bills game, and a suspended Colts game?

The best ability is availability.

It could be a blessing in disguise - Fournette's injury exposed how badly Hackett was mismanaging the running game this whole time. He honestly still hasnt touched his true potential, and has more so been forcing success out of 8-man fronts, and an offense that gives him no help. Maybe that got Hackett fired, so that we can have a good coach who knows how to take advantage of Fournette's skills next year.

However, Fournette needs to show me at least a 14-game season next year.

 

Ramsey, Jack, Yannick, etc... I'd take over Wentz.

Honestly? I'd only take Ramsey over Wentz.

Jack and Yannick were ascending talent last year but both have sort of plateau'd this year. Not ready to call them elite talent yet. I'd rather have a "very good" quarterback than a "very good" anything else.

 

New England's whole formula is to retain your excellent QB longterm and rotate in above average drafted pieces at every position instead of overspending on every WR/CB/DE that enters free agency and people would still rather retain the overly expensive defensive pieces.

 

but my point was we'd cut/trade Campbell or Bouye or Gipson/Church long before we didn't resign Jack or Yannick

imo you gotta be top 3 or 4 at your position to be more worthwhile than a top 15 quarterback

And even then it's a tough sell

I just think Ramsey has the potential to set the tone for our whole team for entire games. It's more than his top-1 talent (don't quote) at CB, he just has a loud dominant personality. That's the last push that makes me take him over Wentz.

 

Y'all must actually run the Jaguars because taking any of those players over an established franchise quarterback is exactly how you have a shit team.

Wentz is more valuable and more important than any of them combined. Outside of having an all time great defense, you cannot win without at least an average quarterback.

 

I mean yeah that's true but it's also part of what makes Belichick able to be as good of a coach as he is, his ability to keep a consistent roster level while everyone else falters with lacks of depth

 

A little bit. They do retain talent to a certain extent. It def has to be a specific kinda guy, i.e. J-Mac, Donte Hightower, Shaq Mason and Marcus Cannon to name a few.

For the most part, their formula is basically just Moneyball adapted to football. Find the most value possible at every position. Pay when you need to, don't when you don't. Find the most flexibility and versatility.

I'd argue that Ramsey being this good this young, looks promising for him becoming an all time great CB

And that is something you can't have an all-time great defense without.

I take Wentz over Myles Jack easily and Yannick Ngakoue isn't even in that conversation. But Ramsey is the kind of talent that I want to rep as a Jaguar for my whole life. I will legit be depressed if we can't keep him here.

 

I believe he does, at least I think that was the whole reason he went to NE, because there was the whole Kraft vs Carroll thing before BB came in? Am I remembering this correctly?

I feel like I remember that BB wanted roster control because Kraft was basically being Jerry Jones with the team before he showed up.
