hahahah. I'm just saying, Jimmy came from an era of football that still ran the ball a LOT and was getting like 9 straight 100 yard games (in 1999). He was a 1,000 yard receiver year in and year out even though we ran our whole offense through Fred Taylor. He was every bit as highly regarded as Isaac Bruce or a young Marvin Harrison before the league evolved into what it is today.

No one is Rice, Rice was doing even more than Antonio Brown is doing now, but aside from him Andre Reed, Jimmy Smith, Isaac Bruce, Cris Carter, Michael Irvin were the 90s greats.

probably not. If he played another 4-5 years then yes.

Steve Smith will be eventually. He had playoff success with 3 different quarterbacks and two different teams. He's obviously more "famous" than Jimmy, whose small-city team took a nosedive for half of his career after looking like they'd be long term contenders.

 

my gut reaction has always been steve is a hofer, but i never even considered it for jimmy until i actually saw his career stats tonight. still don't think it's enough, but hadn't even thought about it.

 

God damn am I getting sick of Fournette

 

I just don't understand appealing that suspension. Fournette knows he acted like an asshole, but still thinks he should be able to play. I don't understand some of these players sometimes when it comes to this stuff.

 

On the flip side, what's the risk of appealing? Best case scenario, you win the appeal. Worst case, you're still out for a game that you were already out for.

 

People appeal far more black and white things anyway. You could argue that Hyde started it. Maybe even Lawson.

Fournette escalated it and deserves the suspension though for sure.

And yeah, I believe every player appeals every suspension in general. It's just the normal process.

 

Has anyone been keeping up with the Alliance of American Football? The AAF is supposed to be kind of a minor league/farm system and there are some familiar names who got drafted yesterday:

I probably won’t follow it and I don’t expect it to last long. But competition is never a bad thing, and maybe some ideas or aspects of it can improve the NFL too

Yeah, I’ll give it a shot. But usually by the time the super bowl ends I’m pretty done with football for a while anyway. Usually don’t start missing it until NBA playoffs are over lol
