    oh that's cool

2010 - maybe I Saw The Devil? But I don't really remember much about it
    2011 - You're Next
2012 - Cabin In The Woods
    2013 - Evil Dead
    2014 - It Follows
2015 - this is tough. I could make a case for The Invitation or The Visit, but I guess I have to say The Witch
    2016 - 10 Cloverfield Lane
    2017 - Get Out
    2018 - Annihilation

I went by Letterboxd release dates though, which is all fucked up and if something is shown on one screen years before anyone else see it, they consider that the release date

Could be just me, but the opening frames of this trailer look like the exact same corridors and facility that scenes from The Cabin In The Woods were shot in. (Same looking set from when they let the monsters loose and everyone runs around screaming)

I'm open to it, but this is another classic role that was iconic from the total embodiment of a character by a phenomenal actor. Similar in a sense to Anthony Hopkins/Hannibal or Robert Englund/Freddy.

If the coming rumors for Todd's replacement aren't great, I may lose hope. BIG shoes to fill imo.

Agreed. I totally trust him as a filmmaker but I really wish he was going for another brand new idea or a different property. Todd made that movie, his performance just can’t be topped.

I need to look up a list of every horror movie so I don’t miss any, but a lot of my favorites are already listed for sure.

    2011: Scream 4

    2013: The Conjuring
    2014: The Babadook
    2015: It Follows
    2016: The Witch
    2017: It
    2018: Hereditary

I really thought I had seen You’re Next and didn’t like it, but now I think I may have confused it for something else. Need to see if I can find it and rewatch/watch since it’s on so many lists here. Also on some of these I used the major release date instead of the festival date because it was messing up my list otherwise.

I would gladly swap out some of these years to add a few more honorable mentions from like 2016 to now.

gonna jot down "Annihilation" and find out about that at work tomorrow. never heard of it. figured Hereditary or Mandy would be everyone's 2018 choice from what i remember of popularity this year.

Annihilation was really something special, but Hereditary touched a place in my heart like nothing else has. They’re both amazing though.

Still need to see Mandy but I don’t think we’re getting any run of it.

Hits Shudder this Thursday. It'll be worth paying the $5 for a month to watch that and a few others

I have at least 5 movies so far as my favorite of 2018 (hoping to have a top 10 by the end of the year) and Hereditary and Annihilation are in there, though Annihilation is a good mix of horror and sci-fi.

    2010: Let Me In

    2011: Kill List

    2012: Cabin in the Woods

    2013: Evil Dead

    2014: It Follows

    2015: The Witch

    2016: The Blackcoat’s Daughter

    2017: Get Out

    2018: Mandy

I guess 2014/2015 is disputed for It Follows. I think it did a festival run in 2014 and then a full release in 15. 2014 would be Starry Eyes if we contested for It Follows to be a 2015 release. In which case I’m not sure if it would over take The Witch for me.

Edit: completely mixed up Here Comes the Devil with I Saw the Devil. Oops. Had to change 2012.

Doesn’t that say Nia DaCosta is directing? Did you mean something else? I’m pumped he helped write it tho. His social commentary is on point.

The theater here doesn't show a lot of horror movies which is so annoying. I wanted to see the possession of hannah grace but not rly badly enough to drive to the town 40 minutes over. It's an AMC theater so idk why they sometimes don't even get fairly big horror releases. Our old local theater used to but the AMC one pushed them out of business

  23. Woah, I had no idea Nick Thune was in that Possession movie lol

I was also under the impression that it was connected to Sam Raimi somehow? But that doesn't appear to be the case

Really hard to say for 2018, though, I love Annihilation, Mandy, and Hereditary equally — no idea which one I’d even pick with a gun to my head.

Did anyone here ever check out November? That looked super cool. Don’t think it got a US release though.
