I cheer for/watch other teams though. Fox is almost always the Cowboys. I watched plenty of Romo and just never felt he was nearly as special as others from his Era.

 

He passed my eye test a lot more than his stats reflect. Idk, maybe we were seeing different games haha. But I see what you're saying about not necessarily fearing him, but I also don't fear Rivers or Roethlisberger or Ryan at all. I think of them is very good quarterbacks that don't really scare me, because I know they're not gonna will their teams to wins every single game.

 

Pretty sure Romo still has the highest fourth quarter passer rating ever, the fifth highest passer rating ever in general, and had the most comebacks during his era.

But yeah, he wasn’t great. Sure.

I wanna say something that all of you will laugh at.....

The Panthers offense right now is like the Warriors with Mark Jackson. Cam, CMC, Moore, Samuel, Olsen should dominate every week. All 5 are legit playmakers. Norv has been a good hire. You can see his wrinkles in the offense. But there is still the overall influence/tone of Rivera that will cause us to lose games. I mean, Cam has 5 incompletions yesterday and still “wasn’t good enough”. We bring in new weapons, new OC, Cam improves in every aspect and we still come up short at the end of games. It’s on Rivera at this point. His mentality is too old school for me.

And I know people will point to the defense. And yes, they have been giving up points, and they are part of the problem. But every defense is giving up points this year. It’s just how the game has evolved. The difference between the top defenses and the Panthers is creating turnovers and making impactful plays. The Chiefs-Rams game is a perfect example. Sure, both gave up a lot of yards and points but both defenses made huge plays and created scoring opportunities. The Panthers don’t do that.

 

I’m not saying the Panthers are capable of winning a million titles like the Warriors....just saying they’re being held back by their coach.

 

I don’t really disagree. Panthers offense has enough playmakers for a ring. Rivera has been overrated for a while. He just got lucky on their fourth down attempts however many years ago and people assume he’s some aggressive genius or something. He’s not good.

 

Remember when the Steelers beat the Panthers 52-21. Those were the good ol days

 

Yeah it's a good take. I've always wondered about what Cam could do with a team with JUST the right pieces for him. This feels like that team, and it's not running the way it should.

 

He’s shown he can lead a team to 15-1 and be an MVP. Haha

 

Looking at the pieces of this offense, it feels like this offense should be better than the 15-1 offense

 

Like, look what McVay has done to Goff. That’s not a knock of Goff. He’s been fantastic and makes beautiful throws. But he’s not as good as Cam. I want to see Cam with a coach like that. The weapons are there.

DJ Moore is freakin awesome. He is going to be even better than I thought. Every game he improves. He will be a top WR soon.

Yeah, exactly. Same reason I want to see Dak with a good head coach and/or offensive coordinator. And not Kellen fucking Moore as his quarterback coach, holy shit.

I like Cam, but he kind of put a bad taste in my mouth not going for that fumble in the SB. I feel like great QBs and a true leader would have dove for that.

 

Every stat by itself in a vacuum without context isn’t meaningful, but when they’re combined with all other stats, like a few pages back, and put in context with 10+ years of data and compared to other players over the same time frame, it’s at least a great metric to go off of.

 

I get that take. And it’s not necessarily wrong. But at the same time if he did dive for it and was then crushed/injured by a DL we’d all kill him for doing it.

I also don’t think it’s fair to label him as a bad leader based on one play/game. He puts his body on the line every week. It’s just kinda funny he gets a lot of criticism for playing too physical and then the one time he doesn’t he gets killed by fans.

 

The ball could also make a weird bounce and make him look like a moron if he dives on it

 

Cam gets obliterated by illegal hits to the head and knees ALL the time and barely gets the flags he should. Dude is a warrior.
