My girlfriend and I each make around $1,000-1150 every pay check and live in Silicon Valley (I am going to school). So what would be a decent paycheck for two young people does not go very far.

 

Our huge department all voted on what theme we wanted for our Christmas decorations would be and "camo" won, so I'm sure there will be camo and red white and blue flag shit everywhere for the next month.

It takes a special kind of arrogance to expect the tribe that is famous for killing anyone who approaches them to not kill you when you approach them

also this tribe is perfectly justified in killing anyone who approaches them because that is surely the only reason they still exist

27-year-old from Alabama who went intending to convert them to Christianity. Basically the highest form of arrogance and disrespect.

 

Are people okay with him being killed though? I agree that he's as arrogant and stupid as it comes, since it's clearly dangerous, illegal, etc... but I don't think I'd say the guy deserved to be killed and/or be glad that he was killed. Feeling that way seems sadistic to me.

He just made a dumb decision, it was enabled by several people who may have known better, but it’s still his decision. I’m not glad he was killed, it’s more like I’m not surprised, all the information we have makes it the most likely outcome.

 

Sure, that's exactly how I feel as well. But I'm seeing people online who are filled with glee that he was killed, which is sick to me.

 

I think it’s basically that it’s a Darwin Awards level of stupidity going on, and just the irony of someone having so little respect for another group that he thinks he’s above the laws protecting them and their entire history and then he just dies immediately because he didn’t take them seriously that makes it a pretty compelling story.

 

It's definitely compelling, no argument there.

 

I also have truly no idea how any other outcome could have happened once he actually made it there. He was putting them all at a huge risk just by being in their presence, and it’s not like “guy who flew from Alabama to convert a remote tribe” is just going to leave quietly and respectfully on his own.

 

Somewhere, someone is currently planning on capitalizing on this story already by novelizing it or turning it into a screenplay in an attempt to corner the white, evangelical market. It’ll work too. See:

I have a mortgage in a house in El paso that we bought 5 years ago before we had to move to Austin. Morgate is 1035 a month for 3 bedroom.

Renting in Austin suburb is 1500 for a way too big house but going smaller would have only been like 100 cheaper and it would have been alot smaller.

Wish I had bought a house when we first moved there before cost went up like 50k accross the board.

I said that I think he should run because he’s a leading voice in congrsss for the working class and his economic agenda could win over both progressives and moderates, but I said I think it would be smart for him to run in support of single player healthcare, something he has supported in the past.
