This. I liked their new record but 1) I don't listen to many instrumental records more than once and 2) thinking of Doug's vocals over it make me immensely sad. It could have been something truly special.

There are definitely filler tracks but about half of In Search of Solid Ground is really great in my opinion.

I Keep My Secrets Safe, Deep Down, Changing, The Alarming Sound Of A Still Small Voice, Fireflies (Light Messengers), and Is This Real? are all jams in my opinion.

I listen to it much more than Along The Shadow too.

Not even Ideology Is Theft? That song is among their best imo.

String, Stutter, Distress, Freedom, and Fountain are the only tracks I liked at all on this

which is more than ST and ISOSG

I really want a new Saosin album after how good the most recent Circa Survive and Anthony Green albums are.

I might think Along The Shadow is a pretty weak record overall but “Ideology Is Theft” is a banger for sure. Same goes for “Illusion & Control” and “Count Back from Ten”.

The intro for Count Back From Ten honestly sounds like Chiodos to me

AtS is cool. S/T is a good nostalgia trip. TTN is overrated imo Circa did early AG soooo much better, and more interesting. Never listened to ISoSG because everyone said how meh it was

    TTN - Incredible

    S/T - Also Incredible

ISOSG - Not great except for a few songs (Alarming Sound and Is This Real? mostly)

    ATS - Very solid comeback.

So can we expect a new record next year again with Anthony? I really liked ATS, so I hope they will release something.

  17. Probably. Beau has been writing for a while, and late last year he mentioned trying to get the band together for studio sessions as a 2018 goal. With Circa taking a break, I could see Saosin coming back next year.

It's okay. I don't hate the album, I just haven't returned to anything other than "Racing Toward a Red Light" since it came out

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

It's not just Circa taking a break next year, Anthony mentioned he didn't plan on touring really at all. Maybe they record an album though

    TTN: meh
    ST: meh
    ISOSG: bad
    ATS: pretty good

highly unlikely this band ever rises above “pretty good”

TTN may just be nostalgia but I love that EP, it rips so hard, great drums, great guitars and incredible introduction to Anthony's vocals.

TTN is still easily my favourite thing Anthony's ever done and one of my favourite releases ever honestly. Five perfect songs.

TTN is rough but it kinda captured lightning in a bottle and created the niche sub genre we all know and listened to around here. it was 2003 and correct me if Im wrong, no one sounded like that yet. so many bands looking for a piece of the pie came after that.

  24. It has aged better than other poppy post-hardcore releases of that era. I don't listen to it that much anymore, but they came out with such a bang, that it's a bit sad that the rest of their discography is endlessly compared to it.

Perhaps a hot take, but ATS > TTN.
