Yes, It's just that mark writing that they are gonna finish recording the album makes me think they are tracking. But i obviously have no idea. Its also possible they have been writing/demoing/tracking simultaneously since day one.

 

Maybe they are just trying new things and seeing what they like. That's my hope at least.

This was dope. Mark’s mtv icon story about getting bad diarrhea before that performance and coming out of the stall face to face with Robert Smith was gold. Hahaha. Weird how he remembered that as being the first time he’d met Robert smith as they had collaborated on the Untitled record the previous year. Maybe they’d never met but he remembered it being a couple years before the Untitled record. That’s me just being OCD I s’pose

 

Haha hell yeah. If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that he recorded his part at a different studio and sent it to them, where it was mixed in. Probably since Smith is from England. So I guess that makes sense.

 

You're right, Robert recorded his parts in England and sent them over, they weren't in the same room (TYPICAL BLINK ONE EIGHTY TWO AM I RIGHT)(

I came in here to say something along the lines of “imagine they had replaced Tom with Robert” and then it immediately hit me that Matt is kinda like a perfect mix of Tom and Robert in a way

 

Just one blink record with Matt at his Crimson-iest and Mark at his most Cure-ish would be too goddamn wonderful

 

that's pretty much what i expected this lineup of the band to sound like... then i was completely blindsided

 

It would be such a shame if they wasted the opportunity of making a record like that on yet another "throwback" record.

 

Mark saying he wanted it to be more experimental is enough for me to think they won't just do another Cali. The trick is not letting Feldmann get TOO weird and indulgent in his studio tricks and I present Lies For The Liars and D.R.U.G.S. (I think Feldmann did that one right?) as what would be bad

 

oh my god, if the production is like that Used album, i will barf. in a bad way.

 

I mean, i actually totally understand why they went the direction they did on California. After being slowed down by Tom for so long i get why they would want to go in the studio and just hash out a bunch of fun and fast songs, to remember what the band is about in the first place. But considering what they have done before with neighborhoods and untitled, and that they have freakin Matt Skiba in the band, i dont see how they could motivate doing another album with songs about being "Kings of the weekend". But that's not what i think they'll do anyway, that's why this next release will be so interesting!

Per feldys instagram Travis is recording drums for blink. According to Travis' instagram he's doing christmas songs, hmm

 

I don't know how would I feel about Skiba and christmas songs....
