One of my favorite albums ever but there’s no way in hell it would be more popular if it came out today

 

Anyone seen S3 of Daredevil? I was (pleasantly) surprised to see that Joanne Whalley is the voice of the Stockholm Syndrome interlude. Thought she sounded familiar.

 

All Of This wouldn’t exist without Finn either with the whole “Use me Holly” line. Also Finn suugested Tom sing “I’m kicking out fiercely at the world around me” line in What Went Wrong.

Who knows how much Finn helped with their writing in previous albums. But to think the band never got any outside help before Feldmann is laughable.

 

Jerry Finn is brilliant and I miss him today on the 15 year anniversary of one of his greatest works.

 

I think what people have an issue with is the perceived difference in the quality of the help.

 

I never got the Feldmann hate. Sure, it’s not Jerry Finn. It’s give and it’s take. Were doing better than Love Is Dangerous, not as well as early 00s. I’ll take what I can get.

 

My buddy was Feldmann's engineer for like 5 years, he told me it's in John's contract that he gets writing credit on anything he produces.
Not that I think that's a bad thing, a lot of producer's deserve writing credits. I'm sure it'll become a more common trend soon.

 

It’s been the trend for the sought after producers for a while.

 

Just listened to 6/8 again. It's still one of the best songs to come out of the entire California era.

 

Thinking of the engineering conversation going on in the Jimmy Eat World thread, maybe what people think they want is a new engineer in the studio with blink and feldy. I’m blissfully ignorant to most of it and will love whatever comes out so at me all you’d like.

Speaking of producers writing, im pretty sure Feldmann does the whoa's in the outro to bored to death (?). Not that it matters, just an observation.

 

AND speaking of acapellas, mark recently did an interview on BBC (check reddit if you wanna listen), and there were various California instrumentals playing in the background. I would love to get my hands on those.

 

there is still unreleased clip of feldman and mark in the studio with mark singing on a track. Feldman confirmed it wasn't for blink and I thought it would show up on Goldfinger's album but did not. Anyone have a link? Was a while back

Which I think has a lot to do with the main problem with how open the band was about recording California compared to their other albums.

I wish we could go back to the days where we would simply listen to the music instead of getting wrapped up in who produced it, wrote it, mixed it, etc.

 

All of those sound like Skiba to me.

 

Yeah I can't say definitively that Feldmann is nowhere in the mix but definitely Skiba.

 

blink-182 being lowercase and Self-Titled actually being Untitled are the two things that always get to me!

 

In that it bothers you that they’re true, or it bothers you when others get it wrong?

 

When they're wrong! My iTunes library has to be stylized and grammatically correct, so something like improper capitalization drives me crazy.
