Because chiefs are are ahead in that division

 

MLB, NBA, and NHL all do that too with division winners going ahead of record after the first overall seed. It's a dumb rule. The NFL should definitely get rid of them. I get divisions for the other sports in terms of keeping travel and its costs down, but divisions are kind of useless beyond that.

 

Divisions are also great for rivalries but seeding should be all just record.

 

I get it, but I'm tired of 6/16 games being the same every year. There are a lot of teams you just don't get to see your team play. For example, today was the first time in Julio Jones' career he played in Cleveland. Dude has been in the league for like 8 years. That's kind of ridiculous to think about. I know we probably played there at some point, but I would be into maybe having one one or two locked in games and then adding more variety each season.
