Sorry Lambgoat but Atreyu shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Misery Signals, Darkest Hour and Unearth.

 

I think they are referring and making fun of Atreyu’s claim of creating Metalcore.

Who's heard the new Architects? Honestly as much as its still Architects 101, I enjoyed it a lot. Holy shit though "The Seventh Circle" goes so fucking hard.

 

Bruh come on! Atreyu's 2002 debut was obviously like the first metalcore album ever! The previous 10-15 years of bands just don't count!

 

Also I propose we do like people on MetalSucks do with Corey Taylor... we ask ourselves "but what does Alex Varkatzas think???"

If he came out and said: “We commercialized metalcore and brought it to a wider audience” I would go along with that. But not that they invented it. Bands like Sepultura, Earth Crisis, Cro Mags, etc are far better answers.

 

I fully agree. I really do. I was just trying to make a dumb joke. But to be clear, he's a legit moron. And even as far as commercialising it goes I'd even argue he should split that claim with Killswitch Engage.

Yeah Killswitch had a bigger impact that Atreyu ever did

 

I grew up in Syracuse where they are from so I saw TONS of shows with them and their various projects. Got to see their last show before their hiatus and also got to see the one time reunion of Path of Resistance. It was pretty epic.

 

Speaking of good metalcore, who's keen for the new Unearth? Those first two songs fucking slapped, so I'm keen to hear what else is coming.

Old Atreyu sounds very dated and new atreyu is bad. Whereas old Killswitch holds up and new killswitch is still decent
