I got just as much of a visceral reaction from Eighth Grade as I did from Hereditary

 

Not the thread for it but I just watched Eighth Grade and uh wow

Also I have no real idea how I felt about Mandy haha. Visually interesting for sure, and the second half ruled, but I think I'm gonna have to sit on the experience as a whole for a little bit longer. Didn't love it as immediately as others here.

 

Also I don't know what took so long because I love Stephen King and David Cronenberg, but I finally saw The Dead Zone and it was good!

 

That movie is so criminally underrated.

And the car scene in Eighth Grade is easily as scary and upsetting as any horror movie this year.

 

Overlord was awesome

 

Add another bulletin to the board: Apostle is a good ass movie.

 

I hear so many mixed things about it

 

i thought apostle was some hot garbage

 

I loved it. I guess mixed is right

 

I thought it was... pretty good.

 

I also loved it. Wild, brutal, fantastical period horror

 

Triangle finally came back to Prime so I could watch it. So good, my kind of thriller.

 

Rented "The Dark" today...(I'd link the trailer directly but I feel like it gives away the whole movie. Even the synopsis gives a lot of the plot away.)

Saw several reviews hailing it as the next "Let the Right One In" and...it is not.

Great premise, good directing and decent acting but the script is just not there. Lots of unfulfilled potential.
Might be worth a watch on a streaming service you're already subscribed to, but definitely not worth the $6.99 rental.

 

Watched Beyond the Black Rainbow on Shudder recently. So weird and gooooooood. Felt like a bad psychedelic trip in the best way.

I wish they offered subtitles on Shudder though because the dialogue was incredibly quiet and I’m also weird and just prefer subtitles.

 

I'm going to see Suspiria again tomorrow with my friend so that we can record a podcast episode about it. I'm hoping it'll be like Annihilation where the second viewing just cemented my initial WOW reaction.

 

I, too, feel like I need to see Suspiria a second time.

 

I always try to watch new stuff twice before we record, but in this case in particular, I really feel like it needs a second viewing to just like...digest and analyze.

 

I definitely want to focus more on the witches voting and the doctor's backstory with his wife.

 

I have the same issue. I watch everything with subtitles on and not having them on makes me feel like i'm missing a lot, especially if it's a quiet movie
