Brees is overrated in my opinion, I love the dude but he's overrated.

 

That's literally his job. If you ask me why Randall is a better musician than me, an explanation of "he makes the instruments" sound better isn't really telling you anything.

But also, it is Saturday. We are not enemies. ShitBird and Buckeyes are the enemy.

 

I agree with that to an extent, but I am also unsure if Brees was even viewed as the second best QB at any given time. He had an incredible stretch from 2009-2011, but even then, I feel like that was the peak of the debate between Manning and Brady for best QB in the league. Maybe I just severely underrate Brees, but here’s roughly what
I think the general perception of who the top 2 QBs in the league we’re starting in the early 00s.

Early 00s: Favre gives way to Manning
Mid 00s - early 10s: Brady is #1 and Manning is #1a. Rodgers, Brees, and maybe Big Ben make up that second very very good tier
Mid 10s - now: Brady gives way to Rodgers, and Russell Wilson and Brees make up that second very very good tier

Brees feels like a better QB version of like Frank Gore or Jerome Bettis to me, where I respect his longevity and counting stats and think he’s easily a first ballot HOF player, but it’s really hard to pick him over players with similar resumes who were at some point considered the best player in the game
