They're very aware of their reddit sub. I doubt they read it often, but they've done AMA's there and asked that their YouTube covers be labeled as an /r/blink182 exclusive. So, it's more fan service than interaction in most cases, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone connected to them checks things out once in awhile.

Reading these reddit posts just makes me want to go in there and set everyone straight, but I know it wouldn't do any good. And I'd come off like a real asshole, I'm sure, because it's frustrating as hell. And I'm positive a slew of those people have tweeted all the Blink guys and Feldmann about how shitty the song is which just drives me crazy. These people have no fucking clue what they're talking about.

 

Tape has always sounded better in my opinion. Panopticon by ISIS was recorded on tape, and it's one of the best sounding records I've heard.

It truly cracks me up, because I'd bet gobs of money that Jerry Finn and Tom Lord-Alge producing and mixing together in 2016 ... would sound very similar to this. Look what TLA did on that Weezer album, look at Jerry's work. Those albums were massively studio albums, cut copy pasted to perfection, and - that's Blink. It's an argument against the name more than anything and the associations. And the mix and production are god damn better than so much other pop-punk shit we get now ... Knuckle Puck sounded like it was recorded in a well, that With Confidence song has so much shit into the chorus I can literally hear the notes get pulled and the drums are fake as shit. Gimme Feldy and Avron and their insanely successful ear for pop-punk any day over something like Will Yip destroying The Starting Line.

 

Does anyone know who mixed California? Serious question. I honestly don't know.

 

Funny cause I was just talking about that ... but Tom Lord-Alge (and his brother) were top notch during that era as well. And that gets under-appreciated now. And, if you wanna blame anyone for that almost rubbery sound you hear on pop-punk guitars ... it's them.

 

TEENAGE RULES THEY'RE FUCKING BORING

 

Feldman posted the other day that Zak cervini The guy he works with mixed rabbit hole and it does has a different sound to BTD. Its much more airy and open. So might be all done in house by various people.

 

A producer friend gave me a very specific and technical reason for why the harmonies in the chorus sounded like Goldfinger but I got attacked for passing this information along from a reputable source. I then told my producer buddy that I was bashed for even suggesting this so he typed up an extremely thorough response that cited all sorts of production and ProTools-related jargon.

However, I don't want to post his message and get ripped to shreds by people when they don't want to hear what they don't want to hear. But basically, it's all related to Feldmann's production habits.

Regardless, I don't understand why it's such a big deal. Goldfinger ingredients were bound to creep into the mix since their chief songwriter/producer also produced and co-wrote Blink's new album. Obviously, both bands are part of the same scene/genre.

If Feldmann is co-writing for a metal band, that's one thing, but with Blink, he's writing in his own wheelhouse. It's completely natural that his approach to writing/producing Goldfinger would creep into Blink's record too.

 

10-to-1 there is a venn diagram that intersects quite well with the "this sounds like +44" group.

 

Imagine how crazy everyone would have went if Feldman join the band instead of Skiba.

Is this common? Or just something Blink likes to do for some reason?

 

Every time someone acts like co-writing means John Feldman basically created these songs a puppy dies. There is nothing more misunderstood than co-writing in the history of 2016's music industry and the kids on social media.

 

More common at the major label level.

 

Patrick stump co wrote a song so it's definitely 100 percent gonna sound like songs off of soul punk.

 

Probably flat out just gave them a completely finished b-side, right? That's gotta be how it works.

 

I just want to hear the fucking album already. No patience. Literally have no idea what to expect.
