From what I understand, they dock him their points big time because he's not good in coverage.

 

Oh no I take the Dolphins corps over us. Amendola / Stills is certainly better than what we got even after Albert Wilson went to IR and even though Parker is useless. Shit I take Jakeem Grant as my tall fast guy over Moncrief too.

And guess what? Fowler and Yannick are underperforming. So it’s not time to get complacent with that position, as much as I love both players and believe in them I also want to light a fire under their ass. There’s a reason why some teams do draft pass rushers every year (see: Denver), it’s a very very hard position to be consistent year to year.

Imo DE is so important that even if it’s a strength you can still never get comfortable. You gotta keep drafting competition and keep looking for that alpha pass rusher that no one else can keep up with. Sometimes it’s more about finding someone who’s hungrier and not necessarily more talented. A scrappy tenacious pass rusher that will continue to play at 110% and get MORE aggressive and vicious with the opposing OL when the game is going south.

Yannick isn’t hungry enough, his ego has him full. We need to challenge his starting role and get him hungry again.

 

man, that's a bad take. i absolutely do not take a 33 year old slot receiver over our very young corps. Stills is better than anyone we have. Albert Wilson maybe. Jakeem Grant over Moncrief though is just letting your bias get to you, that's INSANE.

plus, the Raiders have a much worse receiving group too. And the Bills.

No, Denver does it consistently because they make BAD decisions. See - Adam Gotsis. We have too many holes to invest a high pick in our deepest position. If we get a ridiculous steal in the 3rd then sure. But barring that situation, hard pass.

 

without Gordon and Edelman they pretty much did. At least close.

 

I think he has great instincts and form in tackling. People just hated his size.

 

love Jerome Baker too. That was such a good pick for the Dolphins.

 

But the point I kept making to people was Edelman was coming back. And they were like, naaaah still sucks. Gordon has been a nice treat though.

I’d invest a high pick in a DE if a very good one fell to us. Like if there’s a good DE but LT and WR don’t match the value at that pick then I am banging the table for another DE.

At the very least we need someone else high potential to plug in when we probably lose Fowler. If we manage to resign Fowler then we can afford to wait, but if not, DE becomes a priority again already.

 

We literally did that this year when we drafted Taven Bryan. We did the same when we drafted Smoot. If we reach to fill a need, that's what we do.

 

Drafted Smoot when Kareem Hunt was still available who would have been a great add since you didn't draft fournette in my universe of doing things right.

Eh Bryan is more of a run defender than a pass rusher. He offers a little of both, he’s chaotic and he can push the pocket, but having him wouldn’t have me wanting any less to find a good replacement Fowler. Imo Bryan gets plugged in when Campbell declines, as a big two gap DE who gets shifted inside on third downs.

Smoot just isn’t that good and nowhere near the third round DE Yannick has the potential to be. Didn’t care for that pick.

 

that has nothing to do with what i just said. A great DE prospect fell to us and we chose him instead of reaching for a need. A need that is now proving detrimental to our success.

 

What you’re saying has nothing to do with what I said though. We need more pass rush. Bryan isn’t exactly a pass rusher.

 

Just because he plays DE doesn’t mean he’d be used the same way in games as Fowler/Yannick at ALL.
