Oh yeah I think Gruden is the most overrated coach of our lifetime bar none. But I also see what he's doing. If you're gonna tank and re-write who the team is, may as well sell your assets. And like, Mack is elite without a doubt but if you're rebuilding a franchise, give me Ed Oliver, Nick Bosa, and Devin White.

because a 28 year old that costs 25 million is not as good as a 21 year old that costs a fraction of that.

you are not competing within Mack's prime. why keep him when you can sell him?

I'm kinda on both sides of the argument. Khalil Mack is unreal and people do trade those assets specifically to get players like him, but idk if keeping him is worth it? I don't know. I'm completely undecided on the Mack trade after the Cooper trade, when before the Cooper trade I thought trading Mack was dumb as hell.

Weird. Feels like Watt has been in the league longer lol.

Mack is still the best since 2014.

Exactly. With the Cooper trade I think it's clear Gruden is blowing it all up and rebuilding. Before I thought he was trying to compete lol

Building up picks is great for rebuilds, but the people making the picks can still be shit and miss constantly, both on evaluating talent and coaching them up.

That's why I never go crazy about the Browns having 10+ picks the last however many years with that front office and Hue at the helm.

Yeah, that's the thing lol. Gruden is bad. His plan is smart though.

It boggles my mind how the Eagles are 6th in defense.

    9 picks after Von Miller!

Von just had some underachieving years before Ware got there due to discipline IIRC

Because Mack is the biggest building block you could possibly have aside from a top 15 QB or top 10 LT. Mack’s prime also JUST began, it’s not like the Cardinals letting go of Campbell in his lower 30s. Mack still has years before he even approaches decline, and despite his talent opening him up to any team, he was committed to the Raiders to resign with them. He cared about the team despite them being bad and that’s what you NEED while you’re rebuilding, a couple standout players who believe in the process.

He could have been a team leader and captain for the NEXT iteration of the roster, and set an example of excellence and commitment for every new rookie to follow.

He also is fantastic both against the pass and the run which is hard to find, he handled multiple duties so it’s like you’re trading MORE than a stud pass rusher. His TFL numbers & tackles at the LOS have always been top tier of the league. He can also play some zone defenses as well as a linebacker should.

You’ve seen him siglehandedly take lopsided games and make them competitive for the Bears already. I get that they are blowing up the team, but they really can’t do any better in the draft than Mack. He / his contract are NOT the problem, any team with a top notch pass rusher would make that cap space for him. Because you actually get bang for your buck, they impact games a lot by themselves.

Dallas defense is on fire as well, but we're wasting it with a bottom five passing game. We're 3rd in yards allowed and 2nd in points allowed, have a top five rushing offense, and our passing offense is horrendous. I hope Amari can at least bring them up to average.

Put it like this... @Fucking Dustin if the Texans were horrible would you trade JJ Watt?

If the Jags were terrible I’d still never trade Jalen Ramsey becuase of the swagger and confidence he brings to the locker room, & the way every team has to gameplan around him and is scared to throw his way. Only way I put him on the block is if he clearly didn’t want to resign with us. But Mack DID so that’s why I don’t get it.

All you’d want if you traded away Ramsey is to find another player that good haha. You just don’t trade away talent that rare.

No but I do think it's different. JJ is like...the face of the historical team at this point hahaha. Andre Johnson went to division rivals, and JJ's next up as the face of the franchise and I want him to retire a Texan.

It's hard for me to remove my attachment to JJ being on our team for sentimental reasons to think on whether or not I'd do it from a competitive standpoint.

However my answer would probably be no.

He had 18.5 sacks in 2012, 2 years before Ware. He's been very good since the beginning

If a team is absolutely floundering, 0-7 or whatever, trading a blue chip player like Watt or Mack makes sense from a rebuild point of view.

But the sentimentality and locker room aspect can prevent it. It isn't an easy choice.

You realize that three offensive linemen and Derek Carr are the ONLY offensive players that will be under 30 by the start of next season? Dwayne Harris is their WR2. Mack's prime just began, which means his value has peaked. Like, I get that he's good. You just aren't looking at it from the right perspective. Mack is not going to help the future of the Raiders. He's not. That team is decrepit and beginning a massive rebuild. It's not about getting someone as good as Mack. Though, for the record, Ed Oliver + Nick Bosa + Devin White IS much better than Mack. That's three rookies who, put together, probably don't surpass Mack's AAV. That gives you three elite prospects at a lower cap hit. I take that over Mack. That's just the smart way to build a team haha

Belichick would trade anyone for the right offer, so there's that end of it.

You can go from worst to first so quickly in the NFL that I probably wouldn’t trade blue chippers either

All it takes is a competent QB and scheme (HC)

Yeah but this is assuming they are gonna do the right thing with all 3 first round picks. They could have got two of those guys and then kept Mack instead of Bosa and that’s still better. They’re not hurting for cap space so idk why the one player is such a big concern. Trading Cooper was a smart move because he’s not worth the money to resign him. Mack, however, fully is.

Mack is not going to be as good as he is when it comes time to MEAN SOMETHING. Mack, again, at best, holds you back from tanking as hard as you need to.

Dwayne Harris is their WR2. If they go from worst to first with Dwayne Harris as their WR2 I will shit my pants and just walk around like that all day
