I've made three records with three different producers and have discussed this at length many times. But, okay, I'll concede defeat.

  2. I've spoken, multiple times and in multiple places, about the issues with pop-punk and it's misogyny.

This just got me thinking. Do you think there's any correlation between how popular their music is now vs then? In other words, (pop) punk rock isn't as popular now as it was then. Maybe bands are more supportive of one another when they see other bands making a name for themselves because they want to see the genre get more recognition. I'm sure there are tons of other reasons, but that just crossed my mind.

  5. I don't know what you making three records has to do with how songwriting and publishing credits are handled in a variety of different ways depending on the situation, and even genre of music, these days. I know people that have been in a room and given minor key change advice on songs and asked for songwriting credits. I've known producers change full parts of songs and not.

  6. Probably.

Jason , last I checked you were the cargo shorts / sandals wearing bro ;).
I see the parrells and the argument ,I just think there is a huge gap in cred and talent from blink/ nfg/ sum41 to ATL/ 5sos that scene. I don't think 5SOS are sellout a because in my opinion (my opinion don't jump down my throat like a dick), I don't believe they came from this scene in the first place.
I already redacted the slimy comment , somewhat , so I don't recall why you are persistent on jumping to his defense and attacking me on this like you've been attacking everyone on this thread today who dares disagree with you.
Thing is , I'm not disagreeing with all of what you are saying , we just have different beliefs in how the scene is represented. Just wish you could respect that like I respect yours and not take every differing opinion as an attack.

I stumbled upon it not too long ago and loved it. I'm not sure if there's a full length version, but if there is I'd love to get my hands on it.

  21. Yeah he never posted it. They talk about the video on the Wiki page:
For the group's third music video, the band attempted to take a more serious route and turned to director Jason Matzner and his collaborator Brendan Lambe.[11] Hoppus' original idea was that the band would be playing on the deck of an old cruise liner as it sunk. The band would play in real time as everything around them exploded in slow motion. Gradually, the ship would reach catastrophe ("people running, sparks flying, superstructure collapsing") before the ship sinks into the dark waters as the songs ends with the line "everything's gonna be fine."[12] As that video would have cost the band's label, MCA, millions of dollars, an alternative was settled on: the band is performing in a basement when one musician hits a pipe with his guitar, causing the room to flood.[11][12] The video was shot in the backlot of Universal Studios and was director Matzner's first video.[12] "Filming the first 'Josie' video was awful," Hoppus remembered in 2000. "We had to bring old equipment that we were willing to ruin."[11] The trio were unhappy with the shockingly cold water, and DeLonge cut his head open on shrapnel that was floating around in water.[11] When the band received the first edit, the band members decided to scrap it and start over.[11]

That's opinion man. I get why you post about ATL and 5SOS on your site, I get that , I just think they write awful music that I wouldn't consider pop/punk. That is all

  23. And I think that's the exact same argument used against Blink-182 20ish years ago, which is not an opinion — it's a fact. We're now back at square one, and I'm bored repeating myself.
