this album is still fucking great i just have the same misgivings every time about the pacing

another prog track (maybe with a more emotional scale than "dark sentencer" a la "the crowing" and "domino") would've probably balanced it out for me

 

Very much agree. Love the songs I love though.

I'm with you, those two songs back to back act really well as the centerpiece of the album.

 

Clarification - just poking fun at calling that a run. Both tracks ruuuuuuuuuuule my Coheed-lovin' heart.

 

I’ve said it before, but for me it’s Love Protocol through to the Gutter.

That sequence is the soaring ascent to the climax of the album.

Blaring this on my headphones while at work. My co-workers have no idea how badly I want to just air guitar up and down these halls.

It very well may be. I love the Willing Well callbacks so much.

Bad guy mother fucker

 

This is the only bad thing I have to say about this record. I would've killed for another prog song.

 

I'm confident with this being part 1 of 5 that the prog songs will come.

 

Hopefully. Gimme some 15 minute space battle mind fuck.

 

Someone mentioned it earlier, but this really is the most vocal-centric album they've released. I find myself wishing for more riffs and weird long proggy passages. I'm not complaining (ok maybe a little) because this album is still top-tier.

Anyone have any sources for what the story/songs are about?

 

I've already listened to this more than I've listened to TCBTS, lol. Also, I've listened to The Dark Sentencer 100 times.

 

I should finally be getting my box set in the mail today. Still never had any preorder from this band arrive on time lol

 

Ok- pretty much the biggest coheed fan in the world, and I’m telling you this is quite possibly one of their best albums!!!

It walks among us is absolutely amazing!

Took this album on a run last night. Goddamn The Gutter truly TRULY is one of this band's best songs. It's not even a question for me anymore.

 

The Gutter live is gonna be like, bigger than the old songs?
