Met the “new” boss this week! Yay!

Things haven’t gone to shit as much as they could be shit.

We were “introduced” to her in a group setting and aside from asking all 7 other team members questions while completely ignoring and avoid looking at me it went pretty well! Oh, but then near the end she says, “I look forward to getting to know all of you better. You sound like great people and have a great team comraderie here, I’m glad to be joining it. In case you’re curious why I didn’t ask (me) any questions it’s because we’ve already met. We know each other quite well. I don’t need to learn anything more about him.”

And then she leaves.

Everyone of course asked what the hell that meant. I kept my answer to a minimum. Very vague and cryptic.

This morning she emails all of us saying that while she may be my manager by definition and hierarchy, I am to get all of my work from the 7 people in my department directly and report back to them, not her. She will communicate with the rest of the team and they can pass on to me what they feel like, but are not mandated to.

Her office is literally in the middle of the only hallway connecting our two major parts of the office space so I will constantly be running into her which will make her furious. I better start saving my dollars now.
