I still haven't heard a guitar riff that is unique or memorable yet per these four songs. So far, that's the only aspect of Tom that I miss. The music is very straightforward, which is fine, but Blink is known for cool riffs, arpeggios etc. Matt's guitar playing isn't known for these things either.

My friend and I love to crack each other up impersonating Tom's vocal inflections on that song lol

The only thing I'm waiting to hear is more memorable guitar riffs (like Dumpweed, Mutt, Dammit, etc) rather than straight forward powerchords from beginning to end. It's not like blink always did that. Don't Leave Me is a great pop punk tune with no riffs for instance. But I'm hoping for a few here and there on California.

Mark is saying this is a 2-year cycle. Like it or not , Tom will be back. Bank on it.

Surprisingly, I know a lot of people who love this song for some reason.

  7. Blink is known for cool riffs? Alkaline Trio doesn't have cool guitar parts? What is happening.

Wait. Wait. Tom Delonge's guitar playing is unique and memorable?

Young Thug has crafted some of the most complex, enjoyable melodies of the decade and the entire thread shit on him

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

Not missing those spacey soundscapes Tom loves so much at all.

What memorable guitar riffs have blink had post reunion? They can't be that memorable if I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Wasn't the song inspired by the loss of DJ AM? I feel like it's when you see an ugly tattoo but realize it's an "RIP Mom" tribute. It's one of those situations where you think, "Ah man, that doesn't look so great, but fuck, sorry about your mom man. It's not so bad maybe."

It goes well with the meaning of the song, about having one last dance with a deceased loved one. And not too awful wheb compared to the bland (at times) lyrics for this new album so far.

I consider Tom's guitar riffs to be one of the more memorable parts of older blink stuff. M+Ms, Pathetic etc. It's different than just power chords and a lot of them stuck with me more than lyrics of songs. They might not be technically proficient and they're sure as hell sloppy, but it always stuck out to me as a plus from an early age.

California sounds like a total throwback record from what we heard so far. And that's fine. TOYPAJ pt 2 is vibe I'm getting

Those lyrics beat the hell out of "18 and a wicker basket"

Love it! The melodies are super catchy. I'm not listening to it again until I have the full record, but I'm going to abuse it once the record is out.

Natives and Ghost on the Dance Floor off the top of my head. They aren't among their best or anything, but they stand out to me.

  20. Natives is a fun riff but it's very close to M+Ms

Which is why I don't why people are comparing this song to those older songs. Blink literally haven't written riffs like that in over a decade, so it's a little unfair to be complaining about only the second song released so far not having a distinct riff.

Ghost on the Dance Floor is one of the better songs on Neighborhoods, but then again I like Angels & Airwaves so my opinion is invalid here

Sweet merciful crap...is THAT the line he sings in that song? Oh god. That song is so much worse now.

Has anyone who preordered the album gotten an email or something with the download link for this song? Can't imagine they don't give it to us early.

Neighborhoods doesn't contain one memorable guitar riff so there's that. I'm not a Tom hater by any means, but the dude became ridiculous and you can't help but roll your eyes at his trademark idiosyncrasies.
