Travis Update 2

- fan questions coming in. Will he work with Skrillex? Favorite tattoo? What was it like working with Scroobius Pip? Generic responses from Travis of course.

- Travis elaborated a bit on speaking with Tom. "I think he is supportive." "No bad blood." He was still cracking jokes and texting Travis that he's handsome. Seems all good.

Awesome convo about Tom, actually. Travis said they're supportive of everything he does, he just wanted an "indefinite" break and they couldn't do it. Said he had lunch with Tom two weeks ago and everything was great. He said he was texting him that he was handsome while they were sitting at the same table.

Edit: I actually really like those lyrics. Don't shoot me.

 

EP or another album coming "really, really soon"

 

Travis Update 3

- Hasn't really listened to What's My Age Again since it was recorded. He pointed out that he changes drum parts often for live shows because he doesn't refer back to the original recordings ever.
- More fan questions: Will there be a deluxe version? Either an EP or it will evolve into another album, which would happen "really soon".
Talked about Questlove a bit in response to a fan question.

Idc I love Zane Lowe

 

And my first impression of Rabbit Hole is that I dig it even more than BTD. So that's pretty exciting. I'm glad it doesn't actually feel like it could be on Enema.

 

I just crack up every time he says "Matt Skeeber"

 

Zane Lowe is really great. So lively and energetic and knowledgable as a DJ, and a stellar interviewer.

Okay, I apologize for passing the information along from a respected producer in my area. I'd post his detailed response but I value your community and I don't want to be blocked. Either way, it's nice to have new Blink music to discuss.

 

Surprising number of people on other forums not digging the song at all.

 

True, but his signature sound if you will is still on this. Feldy still has certain pre-amps and compressors that are in this signal flow (possibly some compression is pre-fader) plus Feldy/ his team still is responsible for editing, auto tune falls under editing , Fedly typically has very autotuned harmonies with some chorus or some other stereo widening effect. Every producer has a certain process and way they typically arrange and approach each aspect of the song. Feldy didn't mix the song but he produced it so of course it's going to feature feldman's typical sound on some aspects of the song. That's just how the recording process works.

Edit: The way Fedly typically produces harmonies is very common, nothing new or groundbreaking by any means but he still has a certain way he typically does it.

 

Hmm. Didn't enjoy that one either :(

 

Travis Update 4

- Plans on touring in Europe. Takes him 10-11 days on a boat to get out there. Still having trouble working out Australia. They're still talking about Mexico as well.
- Reflecting on DJ AM
- They'll talk about new solo music and new projects next.

I think I'm ending the cliffs/updates here. Gotta get back to work.

Rabbit Hole was created the first week they were in the studio

 

Overall, I like the song. I like BTD better, but it's a grower. Big fan of the bridge/interlude thing and harmonies. Don't feel it would fit in Enema or TOYPAJ, sonically speaking, but it's a throwback to the classic pop/punk blink sound. I just hope this album is not just plain pop punk songs, I expect some Mark experimentation

 

I love Skiba and his vocals but man, sounds so out of place when he pops in the second verse.

 

I agree. I hope Mark has some songs on here without any vocals from Skiba.

 

Why does a huge band like blink-182 have such god-awful lyric videos? So bad.
