Has anyone seen last shift? I’m read good reviews and then reviews saying it’s a steaming pile or dogshit

My wife and I invited my mom over to watch Hereditary. Excited for a second watch given the horrible experience we had watching it in the theatre.

i've had so many bad / awkward experiences watching movies (of any genre) with my parents that i can no longer watch things with them, which really limits what we can watch when we throw on Netflix. it HAS to be something i've already seen and know if safe, like The Office or something :crylaugh:

Some of the scenes that i watched with them as a kid that was awkward as fuck:

    - Titanic - steamy fuck scene / boob painting
    - There's Something About Mary - semen hair / masturbation scenes
    - Vanity Blues - whip cream / strip club
    - American Pie - just, the whole thing. why did they let me watch this with them :verysad:

and so, so, so many more. if i'm traumatized by anything, it's definitely this situation lol

My mom and I can watch literally anything together and it’s not awkward. There are definitely things I have to tell her when not to look during but her tastes have changed incredibly since I was a kid.

My dad is still really awkward to watch with though. He like flips out if someone drops an f-bomb and it’s bizarre because he swears like a sailor.

Trying to do a double feature next Friday of Halloween (2018) and Prom Night (1980). Coolidge Corner Cinema is showing Prom Night at 11:59PM, so I would love to watch the new Halloween beforehand-- they just haven't announced if it will be at their theater yet. Fingers crossed.

My mom is not into horror but the few times we bonded over movies, when I was in middle school we’d rent the Scream movies when they came out on video and in 2015 for the 40th anniversary, we saw Jaws in theaters.

My dad had no problem with me watching violent movies. As a kid he was friends with a guy that ran a video store and he had no problem letting me rent Nightmare / F13 movies

We watch horror movies with her all the time. She’s equally as into scary stuff as we are. In fact, we went to Halloween horror nights together a couple weekends back. My mom’s the best.

My dad's side loves horror movies. My mom hates them. She would always act v concerned for me as a teen for liking them.

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Lots of creep atmosphere.

I don't understand why anyone would ever call it a steaming pile. There's far FAR worse horror movies out there that qualify for that term.

I found Channel Zero to be a very solid anthology series.
    Moreso than American Horror Story.

It’s entertaining. The visuals are pretty cool from what I remember. Some effective scares. The story was a bit weak. But overall I enjoyed it. Definitely worth a watch if you can’t find anything else you’re excited to see

I loved The Void. Saw it in theaters, so much fun. There’s just enough of a story to warrant all the carnage going on. It’s a love letter to the practical effects that have fallen to the way side for CGI. A Lovecraftian gorefest and it’s so awesome.

  21. I'm 3 episodes into The Haunting of Hill House and each episode has had at least one scene (that I've noticed) where there's been a ghost just lingering in the background, and it's freaking me out but also it's kinda cool like an easter egg. I'm loving this show. Thorough amount of heebie jeebies so far.

I didn't notice anything like that through three episodes...

Where did you see it in the third episode? I'd love to play it back and see it.

Watching Apostle right now, this is really good so far. Excellent cinematography and score, plus Michael Sheen is superb as Prophet Malcom. It’s like extreme Wicker Man

The scene in Apostle where you see the Chinese use the brand against Thomas’ back while the field is on fire and the burning cross collapses is so damn beautiful.
