yeah that's exactly what it is.

Descension is great. Sentry, Number City, Gravity's Union, and 2's My Favorite 1 are all great songs.

 

It's only been a week but i'm not gonna beat around the bush here, Toys is their best pop song, way better than the Suffering, Feathers, Crossing the Frame, Favor House, I'm sorry it just is

 

that's not true but "toys" is totally amazing

 

"here to mars" always felt like a way less good rewrite of "here we are juggernaut" to me. i actively dislike it

 

Toys isn't even the best pop song on this album.

 

Same here, I think Mars is one of their worst ones.

 

idk what the point of "ghost" is, but "atlas," jeez, finally, some life

 

Toys and love protocol are very easily my top two on this

This thing might make my top 10 based on the strength of those two songs alone tbh

 

Those two are so different too which speaks to how stunningly varied this is

 

Love Protocol is a way better version of Here to Mars, but man, I love Ghost. It reminds me of Joyce Manor’s Do You Really Want to Not Get Better. Just a short acoustic song that does it’s job and gets out.

"young love" is just a verse that never develops? i guess there's sort of a chorus? record puts me to sleep right here

 

i still love "you got spirit kid" and always will, except for how it prepared me for a completely different album than the one i got

 

my favorite acoustic flavored song of theirs is easily mother superior. it just fuckin explodes

 

"mother superior" is like... the most amazing song. in addition to it being a gorgeous ballad i feel like you get almost every flavor of coheed in it anyway?

 

Well yeah, duh, Mother Superior is top tier Coheed.

 

amazing how "the audience" is sort of a preview for the sound of unheavenly creatures but is not very good anyway lol

 

It starts off cool, but the “this is my audience” completely kills any momentum that song had.

 

Part of me wishes they would’ve saved the “I’m alone, watch me float as I fall” part of Love Protocol until the 2nd chorus. Would’ve made It hit a little harder. (Minor complaint, definitely a favorite of mine.)

 

"peace to the mountain" is kinda good and interesting? but... not enough

 

i imagine heavenly creatures is gonna sound like the best record on earth after this
