I have a feeling the band has overhyped this song in interviews. Trying not to get too excited.

 

Anyone here planning on waiting to listen to anymore songs until the whole album releases?

 

I don't know, man. Most of the people on here like Down, so they shouldn't be too hard to please....zing!

 

I'm not listening to it.

 

I think the song will be good but not great. But you know, that's my reverse jinx.

 

I'm really torn on whether I should listen to it tomorrow, or wait until the album drops so that I don't spoil anything for myself.

 

Listening to Rabbit Hole once.

Still have only heard BTD three times. Trying my hardest to ignore the temptation.

 

I wrote a song today, it's called Tom's Song. Goes a bit like this.

I will be thoroughly shocked if I don't end up liking the song tomorrow. Not because they've hyped it up themselves, but just because the whole vibe from everyone involved, how much I liked "Bored to Death", I know for a fact the production is good, etc. Everything just feels good.

 

I've listened to bored to death about 5 times. No more songs for me.

 

That's the part that got me lol.

 

I'm nearing 300 plays for Bored to Death....maybe I shouldn't listen to anything else until the album drops haha

 

Haven't listened to the song in a few weeks. I'm not purposely holding off, but I also don't feel the urge to listen to it all the time anymore.

 

No matter how much I giggled at those lyrics, I would love this thread a million times more if Tom wasn't brought up unless it was for a significant reason. Just my 2 cents. (I'm only really here when something crazy is about to happen anyway... so do as you please haha)

Man some of you guys have some will power to not listen. I'm impressed. I don't think there's a band/artist anymore that I can wait to listen to their full album (as much as I would love to). Times have changed and so have I, I guess

 

Even if they drop Rabbit Hole and She's Out Of Her Mind as the next single there's still 11 full songs I won't have heard on July 1st. And I'm not close to sick of BTD despite probably a hundred listens. I can't resist listening to anything new lol.

 

I like the song but I don't love it. I haven't had a chance to read and analyze the lyrics but they seemed pretty meaningless. Has anyone analyzed what it's about?

 

I'm probably gonna cave and listen tomorrow, but for once I really wanna try and not spoil anything for myself and listen to the full album for the first time all at once, minus Bored to Death obviously.

I can't make sense of the BTD lyrics, they don't really seem to flow with eachother. Hope the rest of the album makes more sense lyrically.

 

I know I'm a freak because I've waited 12 years for a new descendents song and I didn't even listen to their new single. I'm waiting for the full album experience.

 

Spoiler alert: It's catchy as hell.

 

To me BTD is about two perspectives of a relationship with a woman someone met;

Finding the relationship pointless and boring, and the effects of that monotamony on your life, enjoyment of it, and wasting your time on it (Mark's parts and chorus)

The other part is about the good parts of the relationship when it first starts and you trick yourself into thinking it's love at first sight (Matt)

The part about the dive bar is recollecting how said relationship began and how it's gotten repetitive.

Just my perspective
