I think its the 16th. The mlb draft might be the most boring draft of all drafts, I dont blame you. I hope Manfred can try to spice it up over time, hes gotta see how bad it is. Theres so many old rules and strategies that need to be changed to make it more interesting.

I don't think he did it on purpose? It looked like he kind of fell over when he released the ball.

    Or do they have beef?

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Love how he took off his hat and dropped his glove in advance then proceeded to let Machado limp up and pop him.

    Was well deserved.

Always reminded of this when events like these occur. It's not exactly fitting in this situation between Machado and Ventura (both of Dominican descent), but still good to keep in mind in general.

Baseball's culture clash: Vast majority of brawls involve differing ethnicities

I love brawls, though, especially when there's actually some action and not just everyone running out from the dugouts and bullpen and standing around. I'm in favor of players staring down homers, talking trash, pitching inside, as well as throwing at batters (no head hunting, though)/charging the mound/punching Bautista in the face.

I think we run into problems, however, when rookie Bryce Harper gets thrown at by Cole Hamels for really no reason. If there's going to be an altercation or someone being thrown at, I want there to be a real reason. If pitchers (especially closers) can celebrate getting out of a jam or closing a game, hitters should be allowed to stare down home runs.

I want to Make Baseball Fun Again, while also keeping some semblance of the "unwritten" rules. I guess I'm somewhere between Bryce Harper and Brian McCann.

There was some jawing between them after Machado's at bat in the 2nd. Also:

Watch the game highlights, it was 100% on purpose. The dude has been ejected multiple times for the same thing.

Nah, give him the qualifying offer and let another team give him a big contract.

Gallo will be at 1B next year, 3B is sorted for the next couple of years with Beltre. That's why I'm happy to trade Andrus away to allow Profar to play SS. Outfield will be Mazara/Choo and a CF who is hopefully Brinson, but Cordell or DeShields could fit there too.

Pitching is fine this year, next year we have Hamels, Darvish and Perez locked up with possibly Holland if they pick up his option. Lewis may get another year but not sure how long he can keep defying aging. There's lots of talented pitchers in the system so I don't see them trading big for someone unless they're special.

The team is in a strong position right now so there's no need to go crazy, if we can lose Fielder and possibly Andrus then things will look much better.

Not sure if they particularly have beef but Ventura has been notorious for being a giant asshole the last couple of years.

Remember those 2 big brawls last year that the Royals had? Guess who was involved both times...

Vince Velasquez pulled after 2 pitches in his start against the Cubs. Fastball velocity was 86-87 when it's normally 93-96. Not a good sign. He's already had Tommy John surgery once.

I really hope he just felt off and that it's not a serious injury.

What makes it so boring isn't the actual process. It's the fact that everyone knows it will be years before a draft pick could potentially pan out and it's hard to get excited about that. The NFL/NBA draft you know those top draft picks will most likely make a difference right away.

I think the process being in a random studio room with a bunch of suits is boring as hell. If it was like the NBA or NFL draft id probably actually watch it but there's like 0 hype about anything at all. Even the NHL draft is more interesting with the awkward stands.
