I'd personally give that honor to "The Window", but "Salt & Shadow" is a great song.

This album is awesome. I think I've enjoyed every single album this band has put out.

One of my favorite things of S&S is how layered it is. Each time I listen to it I hear one little nuance I had not noticed before. Its also simply beautiful.

Anyone notice the talking through glass reference in salt and shadow?

Dustin's vocals on The Window are my favorite.

of course! I also like to believe that in The Long Defeat, Dustin says "still, I believe there's a word in the water", but I know it's not...

Off topic but this still shreds. Damn I need to see them live again.

Some days I think this has bested Beggars as my new favorite Thrice record. I feel a little blasphemous even saying that.

"On the edge of a knife, it’s like you’re living your life on the stage.
You’re talking through glass, we’re just square photographs on a page.
Oh, we’re never alone but we’re each in our own little cage."

This strikes such a chord with me during my commute when I just look around and see about 90% of people with their eyes fixed on their phones.

I can't get enough of this album! Really lukewarm on Beggars and M/M but this one has just knocked it out of the park for me. I can't really decide on a favorite but I would say that Wake Up or Black Honey would be my least favorites and probably the only ones I have skipped. Seems I find myself humming a different track every day...

    What a come back!

    Fight the long defeat.

I've heard several songs try to address social media absorption, but no one has quite nailed it until (of course) Dustin penned this song. Other songs have come across as too contrived or direct to maintain artistry, but there's a great blend of both here.

This and Gates for me are a constant rotation in my car, the long commute home from work means I get to hear each album once. For some reason I haven't gone back to the Hotelier's new album despite loving it.

I've been watching all of their live performances so far and was wondering if Dustin sounds a little strained to anyone else? Usually, he's spot-on in his live performances. Maybe he's gotta build up the muscle, so to speak, and get some reps under his belt since they haven't played this often in a long time.

Maybe I'm overreacting but I'm sure he'll sound perfect in 3 weeks.

But damn, "In Years To Come" sounds so good now that he's such an improved vocalist from when they first wrote that song.

This and A Moon Shaped Pool have been on constant rotation, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I'm starting to think his years of aggressive vocals have taken A permanent toll on his voice.. It's def more raspier but it works really well on the new record

It took a while be now I fully appreciate salt and shadow. I was in dead stopped traffic and it started pouring rain right when the song came on and it just felt so perfect. Ever since every time I listen to it, it just impacts me so much harder now

I'm still waiting for a moment like that for it to click with me too. I mean I love the song, but strangely, it's one of my least favorite on the album.

I'm in the VAST minority of not liking those compared to a majority of the songs on their respective records, too.
