An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

apologies for the oversharing - found out today my dog is getting put down and I am so infinitely glad a band I grew up with like Coheed have new music to distract me

That's awful man. This comes up into my head with my boy every once in a while and I have to immediately put the thought out of my head because I can't bear it. Message me if you need to talk about it, pets are so important.

I really do like the whole album, but the highlights for me are:
    Black Sunday
    Queen of the Dark
    Love Protocol
    The Pavilion
    All On Fire
    It Walks Among Us

I know that's six songs, but when the album is 80 minutes long I think it's justified. Doesn't include the singles, because it's hard to judge them on the same level (especially The Dark Sentencer) but that one and The Gutter were my favorite of the singles.

Ahhhhh the vocal effect in True Ugly is the same as the one in Guns of Summer.

We reach for the longest shadow

    Hold on to me
Tell me you've got me, sweetheart
The world is going dim in my gaze
    Sweet vertigo
    Feel my lungs heaving, choking
Clawing down my back, panic attack
I'm alone, watch me float as I fall

    Geez Claudio.

After two full listens.... phew! What a rush. I just fucking love Travis & Claudio shredding together. This could be one of my very favorite releases from them; the hooks are bombastic and I love all the callbacks to GA.

I’d honestly need to look at the lyrics, but there are definitely a few moments that appear to be direct references to those albums. Some are certainly more obvious than others (the “welcome home” during “Dark Sentencer”; another song has the “Goodnight goodbye” refrain from “Writing Writer”).

There were a few other moments that caught my ear, but I was on the bus to work so I need to sit down and read over the lyrics to double check if I’m hearing things or not.

I loved the Afterman albums but I am inclined to agree. I have too much of a nostalgic attachment to the first 4, but this is easily the best output since NWFT, and I don't think it's close.

So much to digest here, but this feels like the perfection of post-Good Apollo Coheed, and considering that's what basically got me into the band (was a casual fan before but Ascension got me hooked, ever since have been my favourite band with Thrice), I'm so stoked that it came out so well. Will be a huge contender for AOTY (don't think anything will top Foxing but this could get close).

This is their best since Good Apollo, for me. All other albums had great highlights but this monster is one level of hit after another.

Toys is one of their best songs, period. Can't believe what a jam that is, especially after the false ending and the outro solo comes in.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Not gonna lie, kinda wish there was some more proginess in this. But I'm still fine with what they gave us.

It's the worst, sorry you have to go through it. My dog Apollo (named because of Coheed) was put down earlier than expected due to cancer, and every time I hear the give apollo a sweet kiss line I tear up a little.

"Toys" should be a fun live staple. I think "It Walks Among Us" is a filthy little jam too.

Definitely a grower. My brain is starting to seperate the songs from each other now. Last night I tried to give it a listen and I was kind of uncomfortable with how long the songs were. Starting to find things I love about each song’s depth. Releasing 5 songs before a release doesn’t help me out either, I played the shut out of those songs. The end of The Gutter is still a highlight.

I back this. His vocals used to not be my favorite and were kind of a roadblock for me getting into this band in the past... holy fuck has he improved.
