As I said before, people still question and push back and don't listen to leerkat when they respond with straightup facts in a non-confrontational way. Of course they're going to get agitated. I feel like I've said the same things that they've said in a way that's even less confrontational. I waded through my feelings in here in real time, as I processed the information.

To still be pushing back and asking for more info or not believing the claims being discussed...idk. it's not a good look. If your only intent for posting in this thread is to question or criticize tone instead of actively thinking about what is happening with the situation, I'd suggest you just sit this one out tbh.

I wasn't explicitly calling out anyone. I just don't think people insulting each other is helping anything.

I don't follow Pinegrove at all. I've maybe listened to a song or two in the past. I do remember Evan's statement last year, which I recall being super creepy, and I did read a little of the Pitchfork article, which I chalked up as a huge PR piece and I have zero interest in listening to the band or its new album (to be honest, I wouldn't listen even if there were no controversy surrounding it).

That said, I have been following this thread for the past week simply because I like to stay informed on these types of incidents, allegations or situations (regardless of who it is) and I can say that nothing good is coming out of any of these conversations. As usual - as it's been for the past year - it turns really ugly, really fast. People get hurt, throw personal insults and no meaningful conversations take place and then we rinse and repeat until allegations hit the next person or the next band and the same thing happens over and over and over again across all these different threads.

I - and apparently none of us - don't have any real resolution to this problem because it's something that has been occurring for the past year and I've brought it up at least five different times on how combative and argumentative people are becoming (not just on the serious topics either - things get ugly in other threads too) on this site. People have felt the need to leave the site (we've lost a lot of good users), people are getting banned, people feel uncomfortable. This is a bad look for everyone.

I think we all need to respect and really listen to each other more before we all jump down each others' throats.

This is aimed at no one, by the way. Just an overall thought of this entire thread (and many others).

There's plenty of issues in this chat, on all sides. Calling someone a rape apologist goblin and saying that the band attracts that type of person (assuming they meant prior to this situation being unveiled) is not at all helpful.

Leerkat has been unnecessarily aggressive and really should not expect that people read 83 pages of this forum, but instead chooses to attack people just coming into and trying to understand the situation. I have been unfortunately following this through the week and I still apparently missed the fact that there has been a second victim that has come forward. I still don't know where that happened besides Leerkat yelling it at people. The only word I heard since was that the old Foxing drummer was saying things on Twitter that the first victim wasn't happy with the situation. So maybe people are out of the loop but it's not fair to generalize how people feel by just trying to understand what is happening.

Album is great. I think people need to mind their own business and keep other peoples matters between them.

Probably not for a while. Maybe when they sign to a new label, it'll go up.

If you have premium you can download it from bandcamp and sync it to Spotify. That way the band won't get any money when you stream it on spotify

  12. I spent today trying to catch up on this thread and I still can't figure out what is going on.

Can someone provide information about the following:
    1. Have other allegations against Evan been made? Are they online where I can read them?
    2. Have people close to the person referenced in the Pitchfork article said anywhere that she is not ok with what was quoted in that article about her/about this album coming out? Is that online somewhere where I can read it?
    3. Am I missing anything else I should read or know about this situation?
I think I need to start there before I can even begin to parse anything else.

Clearly there's some strong feelings about different things going on, so I need to figure out where things stand.

On that note, what I will say, is stuff like this is only antagonizing:

With topics as serious as this, telling people to mind their own business is not only unhelpful, it's flat out harmful to many people.

    1. No other allegations have been made by anyone.
    2. Josh Coll tweeted that he spoke with the victim and the victim was okay with them "challenging the narrative." Nowhere have they said the pitchfork article was falsified however, it seems that maybe the victim didn't have the happy ending the article seems to paint. My guess there are still feelings of animosity while the victim did say through a moderator that they were okay with the band moving forward, this may have been done as away to move on from the events that occured.

    3. I don't think think you are really missing much, just a lot of bands have tweeted that they are still very upset with Pinegrove and about the situation.

I have found that the best course of action, as someone who has not been able to clearly parse out my feelings on the matter and has listened to the album once, is to just read and not say a thing. My thread experience has been far more positive for it, I think.

  16. This doesn't seem to track. Wouldn't people saying they've been made mean they have been made, even if they're not public but to other people?

My intention is not to antagonize. I am sympathetic to the movement but in someways don't you think that talking at length about something that most people don't have facts on is harmful as well? I am sure you know more about this topic than most people on this forum but from what i have seen is 95% speculation. I agree that it is always best to believe the victim but in this case they reached a settlement and from what the article read, she is okay with them moving on.

It seems there are no other victims willing to speak out or come forward currently, but there are people on twitter in bands, claiming to know other victims as well. I guess I misunderstood what you meant.

My issue is, what does this mean, is this just more situations of Evan being a really shitty person and hurting people or are these victims of abuse. Without details it's really impossible to know.

Define not true? I don't think we doubt that they worked with a mediator and she told them that she was okay with the band moving forward. I think the part that isn't true is the idea that she is completely okay with everything.

  22. If it is is either of these, wouldn't that be a pretty massive blow to the whole "rehabilitated and should/can now release an album and tour" argument?

it's definitely a really big deal, and it definitely sucks. But its hard to know if its something someone can or can't come back from. I choose to believe that people can change, and can be forgiven for certain things. If Evan took a step back and got therapy and evaluated how he treated his partners in relationships, I think he could have made positive change.
