Hey, I don't mean to gang up on anyone. I'm just questioning the basis of this disgust and outrage in this particular case and trying to understand.

Forgive me for questioning why every man should take time and reflect on why they are being named a "rape apologist" - when the person firing that off in a whirlwind of generalization doesn't take the time to reflect on if it's warranted.

 

I don't even want to take an adversarial stance here, I was just asking a question. Sorry if I made you feel like an enemy.

I think he's saying every man should be prepared to reflect on why they're being called that. Not that everyone should be prepared to be called a rape apologist.

 

Because every one of us were conditioned in a toxic patriarchy and shit gets internalized no matter how woke someone thinks they are.

This thread just reminds me we have so so far to go before we can say we know how to talk about this stuff properly. Christ.

This thread is overwhelming.

Seeing how heated everything is around this topic, I think I'm gonna wait for confirmation from an additional verified source that the victim is alright with everything before giving this album/band my time.

 

My close friend went pretty hard at Josh on twitter the other day (my buddy was very aggressive towards him and it wasn’t right) and was met with DMs from Josh himself, Tanner from YBI, and former members of TWIABP. I don’t know the conversations they all had with him (it’s not my business) but he came out of it on the Fuck Pinegrove bandwagon.


That’s not to say “don’t listen to this band”. I guess Josh just gave insight on why he’s doing this and it seems very much warranted.

 

I have. Can you find something that indicates there was lies? Anything beyond a criticism of the tone and that this isn't a closed book (which nobody claimed)?

 

Can't help but feel like posts like this are more interested in knocking people down then anything even remotely related to restorative justice or positively contributing to whatever is going on.

I can also confirm that since there's another victim (this is the 8th time I've said this but the people here Love 2 Ignore It) and I also saw firsthand that the victim the article talks about.... wait why am I repeating this, I've said it 3 times and all you idiots do is nitpick at the wording of very clear statements desperately to try and extract a version that will least hurt your precious boy

I initially bailed on this thread a couple days ago because I could tell it was starting to be less open, educational discussion and would get ugly and BOY I WAS RIGHT

There are some people here just straight up saying antagonistic, ugly apologist shit (I don't even know where some of these people came from) and I understand the reaction to come back equally hard on them, but there are also others who seem to be asking genuine questions being treated just as harshly.

I don't think you teach people by insulting them and calling them names, and it's only going to push people with shitty, uninformed opinions into harsher, shittier opinions in reaction.

This is a conversation worth having but I think going at it for a week straight is exhausting and not really mentally healthy. Feel like everyone should just take a break

 

You're the only one in here acting like an offensive, inconsiderate person. I'm actually interested in what you have to say and this information you can confirm, but it's hard to get past the whole immature way you're treating other people in this thread.

 

Unsubbing. I'm not really following much conversation the last few pages because it just seems like people yelling at one another. This website typically encourages people to speak about things like this in a nuanced and (most importantly) compassionate manner, but this thread got a little out of control it seems. I'm not sure how anyone could possibly learn or heal in a hostile environment like this one.

 

I'm not reading this thread, only the reports I get, but posts like this are not cool. You seriously need to tone it down. I feel like there are ways to have this conversation without calling people whiny and shit.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this post, but if you guys take issue, PM me. I'm not trying to ban people from having a conversation unless they are being adversarial. Most of you are adults who should be able to be constructive without resorting to name calling and that kinda garbage.

 

first off, I couldn't care less whatever happens to pinegrove, or "my boy". last two of your posts were about people critiquing your tone. even here, you had to add in that barb accusing me of not interacting with your facts for... reasons. it's pretty clear, at least to me, that your tone and posts are more interested in being condescending and shitting on people than having any productive discussion. you've shared your tweets, and the info you're somehow privy to. everything else is antagonistic. this is my last reply to you because this is just contributing to the straying from the convo.

 

Imagine for a millisecond being absolutely fed up with both having to deal with the crushing weight of an oppressive society AND it being demanded of you to be a perfect teacher and massage fragile male egos. Damn.
