    So Darkness still slaps

We reach for the longest shadow

Better in the context of the album IMO. Both it and Intrepid are actually.

The lyric change in Darkness is a bummer though.

The syncopated drums on Skylight are unreal.

even separating the album entirely from everything else, these songs are not very good, outside of the holdovers from previous releases. everything fits into a very slow and plodding bpm and his vocals are pretty poor compared to cardinal

At this point all I know is that I like the album but it isn’t as good as cardinal. Hoping to grows a bit more on me.

I also really love the vocal harmonies on this. Nandi did a fantastic job.

well now im definitely cynical (see: really mad) about pitchfork's role in all this. this is fucking ridiculous. a positive review that was CLEARLY planned way ahead of time because the albums been out for 12 hours, just two days after that article? for real? what is wrong with these editors?

The last three days have made me very emotional and I haven't articulated well if at all, my apologies

  16. Without throwing around accusations this all feels very weird and gross!

All good, I’m full of post work snark and not really following this situation super closely so we’re probably tonal opposites atm

Yeah...I sympathize with Jenn Pelly, don’t think her article was perfect but she tried the best she could. But what was this author thinking and what is this website thinking with this review? I haven’t read it and probably won’t but that score leads me to believe the allegations are barely dealt with. Even if I’m wrong, extremely fucked up of them to publish this review today. They could’ve waited til next week to give the illusion this wasn’t all for clicks and hype on their end. But no. Had to get it out the door less than a day after the album dropped. So fucked

  19. Makes me think they have had the record in their possession for a while and this was all coordinated PR!

Pr for a free album that they made zero money off of.

PR for pitchfork more so than pinegrove imo. Pitchfork looking out for pitchfork

  22. You know it has nothing to do with money it’s about rehabilitating an image

It was clear to me that they worked together in order to share the band’s story. I honestly was expecting this review.
