  1. It's just taking the burden off of my wife, TBH. Not making her go through future doctor appointments to fill prescriptions and continue to have to take the pill every day.

birth control can be brutal for some women, too. it's a relatively easy solution if you don't want any more kids.

My wife had the Mirena birth control until about five years ago. And the Mirena BC was a last resort for her because she did not do well with other birth controls...she just didn't feel right on them. She hasn't been on BC for five years. So after our second child (we knew we didn't want anymore) I just decided to get it done earlier this year. I think the saying for a vasectomy is: '20 minutes of discomfort for a lifetime of relief.'

My wife and I are definitely relieved since having it done. We had a lot of pregnancy scares with no BC for years and it was just a constant worry.

The actual procedure is not that big of a deal. They don't put you under (although you could maybe request it, but it's definitely unnecessary). The worst part is just feeling the initial prick of the Novocaine. From there, you can feel some tugging and movements, but nothing painful. The doctor and I talked about the Cavs the entire time he was doing it. I was able to walk just fine and drive home afterward.

I definitely get that and understand all women are different, it's just crazy to me to come in here and see so many people having them/had them done.

For us, my wife takes birth control to help regulate her periods too because there are times when she wasn't on it that she just wouldn't get one for months at a time.

I was just curious what everyone's motivations are/were. Thanks!

I don't want any more kids. For me, I think it's just fair to put the responsibility on me, just as much as her.

I think it's the least we can do...why should that responsibility fall solely on the wife?

I've just never seen such a high % of people that have had one and was curious what brought it about. Getting one had never even crossed my mind tbh but my wife was off birth control for years and we never got pregnant so that's probably partially why

Ugh, we put the pull-ups back on him. After speaking with his pediatrician about it, she said he's probably just not ready and there's no need to force it. On a side note, I just received my electric/water bill and it was over $200 (way over average for us). My guess is there was a good spike from washing his sheets almost every day for nearly a month.

  12. So what did you all do when your baby began to roll at night and would wake up and cry when they got stuck in a position?

Waited to see if she will put herself back to sleep first, and if she continues to cry Go into the room and turn her back over and give a pacifier.

Currently going through this as well.

  14. We put him in a sleep sack last night and it either worked because it restricted his movement and he couldn't roll or he was just so tired that he slept through the night.

For those of you who have more than two kids: how did it compare going from 1 to 2 vs 2 to 3? We are expecting our third in March and I’m starting to get a little nervous about being outnumbered.

My son turned three on Sunday and I have no idea where the time went. I made another video for his birthday (I plan on doing one every year) and it’s shocking to look back at videos from just a year ago because I forget so quickly what a little voice he had and how much he’s grown. He’s not my little baby anymore.

Got my snip consultation this week. Fun times... We were one and done, but then the second one of course happened earlier this year. Now we're making sure we're done lol. At least we already had a van...

Took them out to the pumpkin patch today, weirdly warm/non windy compared to the last two weeks or so here on the Cape. Looking at the weather report, this may be our last nice day for quite sometime. Not sure how we'll do our first winter up here lol

  21. We induced early at the hospital. My wife liked knowing exactly when it was gonna happen.

  22. I fucking hate daycare. Today is the fourth time they have sent my son home sick and the fourth time the doctor said he is not sick. And of course he has to be "sick free" for 24 hours before he can go back. They're essentially stealing money from me at this point.

  23. We only pay for the days we go for daycare. If either of our kids stay home, we don’t pay that day. Fully aware this is not the norm and we are thankful for it
