We must watch different Star Wars movies.

I don't think you can deny that TLJ had some of the most campy/corny jokes/moment we have seen in a SW film, mostly executed (poorly or fantastically depends on your view lol) by mark hamill, but i also thought TLJ had a lot of moments that they at least intended to try to get a laugh out of you, whether it happened or not.

    I think TFA is funnier

I enjoyed the jokes and light-hearted moments way more in TFA, they felt more organic, where as TLJ a lot of the funny moments felt forced (no pun intended) ie. the terrible brushing off of the shoulder.

True. TFA didn’t start like that....oh wait

I've always thought that if TLJ were an episode in a season, it would be considered a filler episode (possibly even a well received episode, like that Stranger Things episode The Lost Sister, or TWD 1-2 character focused episodes in its prime) . It didn't really move the story much imo. Felt like a one-off to me overall.

So did I, even though TFA had fewer comedic moments. TLJ just didn’t have any that were funny.

My only complaint with TLJ was no time jump. Rey becomes a Jedi in a week and Finn spends his time repeating the same character arc as Force Awakens.

I think Finn had a similar character arc to TFA, but it's definitely not the same. TFA his arc was to stop running away, TLJ was to start caring about more than just himself.

Really? Poe becoming a leader? Finn joining the Rebellion and stop running from the FO? Rey accepting her parents aren’t anybody? Kyle killing his master and becoming the leader of the FO? Luke Skywalker sacrificing himself? The whole universe retconning that Luke will not be the last jedi and the Jedi will be rebuilt?

I feel like you’d be really confused for episode 9 if 8 was just a filler episode that you could skip lol

The humor mostly feels pretty in-line with what we've seen in past Star Wars movies, though I think it leaned in a slightly more slapstick tone than usual. But there's still some classic quippy lines like we would have gotten in the OT. Like Leia's "wipe that nervous expression off your face" line. The iron gag is also great every time.

I guess we disagree. If i’m looking at the broad overall arc for Force Awakens it’s him trying to run, then not trying to run and saving Rey. TLJ he immediately tries to run again. I guess I would say the change is he goes from caring about saving Rey to saving the Resistance as a whole so yeah I guess I do kinda agree with you haha.

  16. I swear to god people didn't watch the movie.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

Yeah I can't fathom how people could possibly view this film as a filler. Like holy shit, even just Finn and Poe changed so much.

Yea, I think we mostly agree haha. I guess in both it is for him to stop running in some way, but in the TFA it's more small-scale (returning to Starkiller to save someone he cares about) and in TLJ is larger scale (learning the broader consequences of running away/having a selfish attitude). I guess the difference for me is that in TFA it seemed more based in cowardice and in TLJ it seemed more like he was indifferent about the cause itself.

Yeah that makes sense to me. You think he’d be more grateful to a cause that essentially harbored him and saved his life haha

Haha well yeah it’s not my best comparison since seasons usually have 10 episodes or so instead of 3.

I thought Finn had already joined the Republic when he deserted the FO in TFA. If not, well then I was already ahead of the curve. I didn’t find myself really caring that much that Poe became leader, good for him, but unfortunately I think Poe and Finn aren’t being used to their fullest potential. Finn was one of my favorite characters in TFA, but his story was really underwhelming in TLJ and I hope to see him be a fucking badass in episode 9.

As with the other stuff (rey accepting her parents, Kylo killing Snoke which was the best scene of the movie, Skywalker sacrificing himself). Idk why I feel this way, but I just don’t think those events were that rewarding. I mean Kylo killed his boss, but that didn’t Do much for me story wise cause I don’t find Kylo to be intimidating, And we barely knew who the hell Snoke was.

Luke sacrificing himself that way was dumb.

And I was never concerned that Luke might actually be The Last Jedi, so no big reveal there imo.

I mean I wish I liked it, but I find that I am just not as invested in these characters as others seem to be. Who knows.

Totally fine you didnt like it or find it rewarding, but saying "It didnt really move the story much" is much different than meaning "It didnt really move ME much." Hope Episode 9 can redeem them for you. Fortunately if you liekd TFA, youll get JJ back and I could definitely see him tying in a lot of stuff in TFA back to clsoe the trilogy.

Man, the Rey/Kylo/Luke/Snoke dynamic was the best and most interesting part of the film. I think Poe was very one dimensional in TFA, but he was 100x more interesting in this one. I personally love Finn and his arc in both movies. What I'd love to see from him in IX is to discover some internal conflict about killing the soldiers he used to serve alongside.

Yea, I could have gone for a movie all around Luke/Rey/Kylo/Snoke. And I did like Poe even more here.

I think that or even trying to turn more storm troopers and convincing them what they are doing is wrong and why. They could get into the history of how they were brainwashed.

I could see a scenario where he either gets captured and tries to turn stormtroopers to his side or he recognizes another stormtrooper and then he tries to go back to the FO and rescue them.
