as far as Lana goes: I'm a casual fan, by which I mean I'm always open for new stuff but I like it about as often as I dislike it, which obviously also means that I do not think that all her stuff sounds the same at all

New song is great. Would love for the new album to follow suit.

My fantasy right now (believe me I'm fully aware this has precisely a 0.00% chance of happening) is that Lana Del Rey comes out during Bleachers set at Riot Fest tomorrow to perform Mariners Apartment Complex. Then on Saturday she comes out during Cat Power to perform Woman with her. Then on Sunday she can come out during Father John Misty's set to sing Coachella (or even just for the hell of it).

This reminds me that in 2015 I saw The Weeknd in LA and the very next day (also in LA) Lana came out to perform Prisoner with him. I was so jealous.

    I would've been furious. I would've demanded a refund haha

  6. That reminds me of Pitchfork a couple years ago where Dev Hynes had his own Blood Orange set but also popped up to assist on songs during the Porches and Carly sets. That was a pretty decent weekend.

Sounds much closer to the Ultraviolence vibes I love so much. Really good song.

I fail to see why that song needs to be 9 and a half minutes long.

    A most excellent point.

  24. Lana tells Lowe:

I played it for my managers and I was like, “Yeah, I think this is the single I want to put out.” And they were like, “It’s 10 minutes long. Are you kidding me? It’s called ‘Venice Bitch.'” Like, “Why do you do this to us? Can you make a three minute normal pop song?” I was like, “Well, end of summer, some people just wanna drive around for 10 minutes get lost in some electric guitar.”“

It needs to be 9 minutes long because the atmospheric squiggles starting around the 5min mark are probably the best part of the song (besides the "fresh out of fucks, forever" lyric which is a goddamn BAR). It's a completely new way for her to let a song breathe. It feels like an artist doing what she wants and succeeding wildly.
