Yeah, Architects have always definitely had their own sounds that sets them apart from the rest of the pack. They have unique lyrics and interesting riffs for their genre. Their songwriting skills are a definite cut above most other core acts, by a long shot.

I'm of the opinion that 20 Buck Spin can do no wrong. Exhibit A. Comes out in November:

Damn, any NWOBHM fans here? The new album by Satan is dope as hell. Even the riffs have riffs. FFO Iron Maiden:

I had no idea, glad you are well!

Also Architects are fantastic. They aren't genre-defying or anything, but what they do, they do better than almost anyone else.

Their last album got more progressive as it went on too.

Random thoughts RE: the last day's discussion:

-Architects are an alright band. They never really did anything for me, but they're good at their sound. Not into the new song at all though.

-This also reminded me how good of a band Architect is/was. Check it out if you like old-school style metalcore:

That band was from the same scene as Earth Crisis, Another Victim, etc. Very good band and the frontman, Keith, was one of the nicest guys.

I believe they used to be called FoundDeadHanging.

IIRC, they're still around and play like 1 or 2 shows a year. They also have had a new album written for years, but haven't had an opportunity to record it sadly. :(

I got into August burns red before I heard architects so any time I listened I was like "this is good...but it's not August burns red good". Same thing with parkway drive

Re: architect, my friend told me about them saying "check out architect they're amazing but be careful not to mix them up with architects, they suck" lol

Any band name that's a bill and Ted reference is good in my book.

now if only they could shoot phil nra into space and get a sane frontman again.

edit: The Slipknot influence is HEAVY on this track.

These guys just signed to Relapse. I dig it. Sounds like the deathrock/black metal hybrid soundtrack destined to be played at Hell's carnival.

Speaking of Slipknot, apparently they're in the recording process for their new album which I'll be very interested to see when it comes out. Especially considering this one is, according to what he's said in the past, going to be Corey Taylor's last Slipknot record. Understandable, but man. Talk about the end of an era.

I'm pretty excited for all of it. I was bummed that the Revocation (and a million other bands) show was the same night, but the Sevendust show is with Clutch and 20 minutes from the house, versus an hour drive to the Rev show.
