Not opening any gifts today. I have a couple of eggs I need to hatch today before getting all the 7k's tomorrow.

 

I sent some of you gifts from Iceland. Hope something cool comes in them. I got Mr. Mime and Volbeat.

Nah, all 7k eggs will have a chance of hatching gen 1 regionals. And they don’t become available in gifts until tomorrow at 4PM EST.

 

Well, wish I'd saved the eevee naming trick for the special research. Just shot my load on a bunch of jolteons trying to èvolve an espeon.

 

You have to walk 10km (get two candies) with the Eevee and evolve it while it is still your buddy during the day. This will be a guaranteed Espeon. Same thing with Umbreon, but at night.

 

I had no trouble tbf. Just make sure you don't just walk it 10km but get two candy, and make sure it is still your buddy when evolving :)

 

Ah dammit, that's where I went wrong, I swapped it out before evolving. Idiot.

As I've already completed the 2 candies quest, have I got to walk 10km again with a new eevee or can I just evolve it as my buddy from the off?

 

Nah it has to be 10km and two candies each time sadly

 

I'm so sick of walking Eevee... I've walked 36 km with it since Community Day (2 shinies and the 2 for Celebi). Worst part is that I know when I finish my remaining 4km for the quest, it won't go faster because I'll be stuck with the "Spin a Pokestop 7 days in a row" quest :/

 

I'm on that now. I don't see the problem with it. Why is everyone in such a rush to complete the special researches? A new one won't come along any time soon and it just leaves you with less to do imo.

 

All I have left for Celebi research is the catch 40 grass/psychic pokemon one.

 

I don't know, it's just that almost everyone in my groups got it like 2 weeks ago so I feel like I'm late. To be honest, I feel like the Mew quests made me go out to play much more than these ones. With Mew it was more Catch this, Catch that, Do raids, Make Great Curveballs, etc. This one is more Make friends, Send gifts, Spin a stop for 7 days, hatch eggs, walk buddy, etc. Most of them I can do at home, walking with the app open without playing or with very little effort at all. I think the Celebi quests are pretty boring with a few exceptions.

 

Yes but also Mew > Celebi.

 

The Celebi quests are just made to take time without really being fun to do. Thinking about it, it makes sense since it's the Time Pokemon.

 

I definitely agree that these quests aren't as well designed tbh. I think they were purely chosen to highlight the newer features.

They are giving level 40 trainers in Korea and Brazil the chance to submit pokestop recommendations. If it gets rolled out to other nations (UK PLEEEEAAAASE) then it could be a great way to let rural players have more chance at playing as well as allowing me to finally get some pokestops in the massive gaps in my town which has tons in certain areas and then none for like 10 minutes each way.

Don't feel too bad. I made this same mistake, except it was for my last shiny Eeevee I wanted to evolve into an Umbreon. Now I have 3 shiny Vaporeons and no shiny Umbreon.

 

I'm 18 grass/psychic type away from finally getting Celebi.
