Riot Fest 2018 - September 14-16 - Douglas Park, Chicago Tour • Page 235

  1. None of these are particularly hard for me personally, but that type of conflict always reminds me of Get Up Kids vs Dashboard in 2014. That was the worst.

Hey guys, anyone think this is going to sell out? I'm still waiting for my friend to see if he's coming from Atlanta (for Sunday only)... I will probably only know if he is coming in 2-3 days

That was the worst/most confusing conflict they've ever had I think. I don't like Dashboard but I felt that for a lot of people

Previous years I would say it will. This year I'm not so sure it'll sell out at all.

Okay that conflict was def just the worst.

Friday (Super pleased with how this turned out, Sum 41 vs TFB kind of sucks, but I have the Sum 41aftershow; Liz Phair vs The Fever 333 also sucks but I'm sure Fever will be back a ton in the next year, TBS will get the shaft, as per usual)
    2-2:10 The Fever 333
    2:10-2:55 Liz Phair
    3-3:30 Pussy Riot

    3:30-4: Aquabats
    4:40-5:25: The Front Bottoms
    5:30-6:30: Matt and Kim
    6:35-7:35: Bleachers
    7:40-8:40: Young the Giant
    8:45-10: Weezer

Saturday (May just show up late and show my friend around the city a little, and also kind of want to check out Hellzapoppin)
    3:30: Hellzapoppin
    5-5:45: Wolfmother
    5:45-6:30: Twin Peaks
    6:35-7:30: Elvis Costello
    7:30-8:30: GWAR
    8:45-10: Beck

Sunday (The worst part is Suicidal Tendencies overlapping with the Audition, and also the Wonder Years overlapping with FJM. I'm also bummed I'm missing Superchunk)
    12:20-12:50: Mom Jeans.
    1-1:30: The Dangerous Summer

    1:30-2: Calpurnia
    2-2:30: Kevin Devine
    3-3:45: SWMRS

3:45-4:15: Bullet For My Valentine and/or Johnny Marr
    4:15-5: The Audition
    5-5:40: Suicidal Tendencies
    5:45-6:45: Blondie
    7-7:45: the Wonder Years
    7:55-8:55: Father John Misty
    9-10: Run the Jewels

    Full sets=bold

It was but I don't regret my choice of TGUK instead of DC.

I'm just trying to figure out why the Souls got the short end and are on the tiny stage.

That TGUK set was an all time Riot Fest favorite of mine

Give it up for Brian Baker.

Three sets in under 24 hours with Bad Religion aftershow, Beach Rats, then Bad Religion closing out the Radicals Stage.

Trying to figure out the logistics of rappelling out of a plane at 4:10 on Sunday to see The Audition, then rappelling back into the plane immediately at 5

I think the D4/Superchunk overlap is more of a miss than the Blondie/Superchunk bit, overall.

And the Alk3/Wonder Years clash is going to be a tough one for a lot of people (and I'm sure the Wonder Years are a bit bummed about it too, hah).

Some of these bum me out, but it won't hinder my ability to have a great fucking time...

I don't regret my decision to watch the Get Up Kids instead of Dashboard that year, but it's still one of the most perplexing festival conflicts I've ever witnessed. Haha.

I went to Dashboard that year and I don't regret it cus I stayed at that stage from Saosin->Say Anything-> Dashboard, and by the time the Saosin crowd cleared I was pretty much front row for Say Anything and Dashboard.

I went to Dashboard that year and regretted it. STWHA soon became one of my all-time favorite records.

I've been to Incubus shows. It's to the point where I think Brandon removes his shirt just to hear all the women scream. Regarding FJM, yeah maybe it's because I have tons of hipster friends, but I've yet to meet one who isn't totally into FJM.

Also this is what things are looking like for me as of right now.

    Mom Jeans
    Just Friends
Calpurnia or Beach Rats (depends on my mood lol)
    Kevin Devine
    Maybe catch some FEAR
    Spitafield or SWMRS (toss up)
    Johnny Marr
    Suicidal Tendencies
Blondie or Dillinger Four (toss up, probs depends on what my friends wanna do. Leaning towards Blondie)
    The Wonder Years
    Part of Incubus
    Bad Religion
    End of Run The Jewels

Aside from not being able to finally see Alkaline Trio, looks like a pretty damn good day.
