Yes. Very good, but I just didn't spend much time with them. Heavy music isn't a casual listen for me so it's easy for me to be impressed and then move on quickly with a few exceptions.

Ah good, but yeah that makes sense. Is Comrades one of those exceptions?

I haven’t listened to Lone/Grey nearly enough since it came out, but yeah it’s definitely an exception.

Then again, so are Underoath, Haste the Day, Wolves at the Gate, Oh Sleeper, and The Chariot to name a few. Yeah. Really not sure why I don’t listen to Norma Jean more. Hahaha.

Totally different genre, but was just thinking about this regarding Death Cab after listening to the new album stream. Another band I think is great that I’ve hardly listened to. I think I’m gonna do a Death Cab/Norma Jean discography run through soon.

    I do not exist.

I actually prefer the first three Norma Jean albums (Bless The Martyr, O God & Redeemer) to the more recent stuff. I got Meridional and Wrongdoers but like @Lucas27, I didn't listen much so I didn't bother with Polar Similar. I think I streamed it once or twice to check it out and see if I wanted to buy it, but nothing more. I respect what they do though. They've been around for so long and they are so consistent.

Oh yeah! I forgot you love Underoath too
Lots of good bands right there though. I'm so glad I caught The Chariot on their farewell tour, it was crazy fun. I'm not too invested in WATG, but I think their latest release I liked best. Going more melodic really worked for them imo

Oh please do! I love Death Cab so much. Their run from We Have the Facts to Narrow Stairs is impeccable. I'm enjoying their newest one too!

BTM is a different beast, but I'm the opposite. Redeemer to Wrongdoers is what I prefer and I can't really stand O God. Cory's vocals ruin it for me, but besides that they've been very consistent. I'll always be excited for new music by them!

I’ve noticed that’s a common criticism of O’God but I’ve never found that. So funny how tastes can be completely different.

Shout of for The Chariot! Insane live show. They were one of the few bands that consistently played in the UK so I think I saw them 4 or 5 times before they finished.

Dang I'm jealous! I only saw them once, but I'm soo glad I did. Fun fact: The Chariot show didn't start till midnight, so I got to see Relient K perform at a different show that same night. Two concerts in one night B-)

And oh dang that Azusa song was all over the place.. not sure what to think of it. Her vocals were good though

O'God was the album that got me into them. Never could get into Bless The Martyr...

Their newer albums are much more my speed though, so I tend to play them more overall.

The Chariot’s farewell tour had such an interesting lineup. Birds in Row & Rebuker were a great fit, they had the same vibe as The Chariot and seemed poised to take their place in the scene, but the other two bands felt like they were just there cause the label wanted them to be.

Hmm I remember seeing Birds in Row, but not Rebuker. I think Glass Cloud took their place for my date, but I could be totally wrong.

we got GlassCloud, too. was not impressed. mostly because the guitar player was being gross towards a girl standing in front of his part of the stage.
maybe Rebuker got added on/dropped off early? they were easily a highlight, though. wish they were still touring, or active at all, haha.

Yeah I remember the guitar player sticking out his tongue an uncomfortable amount of times. Dang Rebuker was probably there I just don't remember, the show started so freakin late haha.

i’ve been meaning to tell you

The Celebration Rock podcast did a feature on dc Talk, their album Jesus Freak, and 90s Christian music culture in general. I enjoyed it, they are obviously not Christians and throw around the term "cheesy" a lot, but they genuinely like and respect the album, and that comes through. I thought it was a good listen and a nice trip down memory lane.

    Hey gentlepeople.

Last thing I'm gonna post of mine in this thread, at least until I get the album done, but I just put out a new song a few days back. It's based on one of Andrew Peterson's books in his terrific Wingfeather Saga. As usual, I'd love some thoughts!

    Your friend is very talented!

I heard your new song several times and it's fantastic! I love how your incorporation of the piano and how you build/progress the song. I finally remembered what band the second half reminds me of, Local Natives. Especially when you're singing "remember your name", great part btw.

Seems like last season was focused more on the 90s. I want to hear more about the early-mid 2000s.
