I could only find start dates on the street closure permits. Maybe I couldn’t excpose a column on my iPad.

Nevermind, I see how you got it now.

I'm pretty sure there was a similar situation a few years back right before the first announcement happened. But this is WAY too close to "show time" for this to be going down, hah.

Probably the year it moved. And there were still issues with stage setup.

But yes, this is 26 hours from the first permit date and they’re tentative.

My memory is escaping me, but... Part of me is now wondering if the reason its marked as "tentative" is because of the festival or the parks department. Not sure how any of this works, so I'd risk to venture a guess but...

This is the first actual evidence we've seen that shit is in danger of getting canceled.

Festival would want it approved as soon as possible. This is being held up for some reason.

Seriosuly, if there is a 2019 edition, will someone buy tickets before we know all the details?

They surely know how to make angry their fans who buy tickets

    What was the stage issue?

There’s a hospital on the south side of the park. They wanted the stages facing away from it so they wouldn’t disturb any patients. Original layout had them facing the hospital.

My pessimistic thought would be that the festival was waiting on executing the permit to see if they could actually hold it for whatever reason (if all the rumors of poor ticket sales are true). I don't know if that would even be the case, but if it's just being held up by the department for one reason or another?

That could lend credence to all the shit about EVERYTHING just being really delayed. Especially with the road closure stuff being submitted on 8/31!

I wish they had submit dates on the park district data.

...Or approval dates. The dates here go back to 2012. We could go back and see when things were submitted/approved in the past. But nope. That's not a thing.

I really am wondering if shit was just "backlogged" on the festival's end and they held off on this shit until very recently (for whatever fucking reason), and it'll get approved but not until the final hour.

Whatever. We'll figure out what went wrong in an Alternative Press "oral history of Chicago music festivals" or some shit like, five years from now.

EDIT: And I'm not implying that I'm convinced it'll get canceled. But this doesn't bode well.

The permit thing for some reason made me more discouraged than the rest of this. If there's a chance they won't get the permit, that's something they NEED to be transparent about. My flight is booked. My full price tickets are bought from when they first went on sale. My hotel is booked.
If there is even a slight chance this isn't happening, they need to be up front about it. Fuck.
I've thought the whole thing was kinda funny until tonight.
Either way, I'll be in Chicago a week from now with my girlfriend and it's going to be a blast, Riot or not.
