Album Review: Alkaline Trio - Is This Thing Cursed? / Releases / Releases // Drowned In Sound

 

After a weekend of listen after listen, only songs I’m kind of “meh” about are Pale Blue Ribbon and Goodbye Fire Island. I can’t believe how much Little Help? and Worn So Thin grew on me.

Still my favorites remain:

Krystalline
Heart Attacks
Sweet Vampires
D&D

 

I looooove Fire Island, while Little Help? is one of my lower end songs. But there’s no bad songs!

 

Also I still haven’t received my preorder. Kings Road is about to get a nasty call from me if it’s not in the mailbox today

Wouldn’t be so bad if I at least had a tracking number. But it shipped priority Thursday and the tracking number is listed as ‘unavailable ‘

I remember that A&I LP being like, $13 for the longest time on amazon and I never grabbed it. Mistake.

 

Yup, this album is a slapper. I have no clue what my favorite song is, because they're all bangers. Probably up there as one of my favorites, but for now Crimson still takes the cake for me.

 

yeah i lucked out with a good deal but it certainly wasn't 13 dollars. that's how i'm feeling about Skiba's album Kuts right now. blerg

 

My entire Saturday was busy, and I didn’t get a chance to listen to the album for 24 hours, and I missed it like my gf had left for a trip without me.

That’s a testament to how much this band means to me, though; they’re essentially a loved one of mine, lol

 

I just grabbed the first Emergency Room album for $12 over at Asian Man

 

Heyyyy look what came today. It’s like KR knew I was getting mad

 

Cd doesn’t have a lyric booklet though. Shame

Album sounds gorgeous on physical release. There’s some things digital just can’t do

 

Yeah, that phone T-shirt is awesome. I may have to order it.

 

Something tells me that due to how quickly this album came to be, they didn’t have time to print lyric booklets for the CD. Maybe vinyl will?? They always have such nicely detailed album artwork.
