Over here reminiscing to when everyone called Crimson "overproduced" and hated it when it came out.

 

Crimson sounds good, but I don't really like how Dan's voice sounds on that album. Some of the resonance is gone or something?

 

Funny thing is people think this about the album !

 

Sums up a good portion of music "criticism" in 2018.

 

I'm a lyrics guy so it's a little bleh that the mixing drowns out some of the vocals, but it's not gonna ruin this album for me.

 

I'm not hearing this vocal complaint. Vox sound very up front and center and proper.

 

Just when the full band kicks in on the title track for me

 

I notice the buried vocals less when I listen with headphones, but it’s definitely noticeable through speakers for me. Maybe down to the quality of my speakers, I don’t know.

 

Exactly, and I know I've been guilty of saying it about a certain album. It's really an annoying criticism when it comes down to it. Some of the complaints I've seen about the record have been silly, like one person said that the lyrics don't rhyme enough and they find it rather annoying. I wasn't aware rhyming lyrics were a big deal lol.

 

I still don’t like Crimson all that much honestly

 

Crimson is a big bag full of nostalgia and just all-around great, memorable Trio songs.

EDIT: Although Mercy Me has never ever clicked with me and still to this day is one of my least favorite Trio tunes :(

 

Just popping in to say Is This Thing Cursed? is their best album and Stay is Dan's best song.

 

I really love this album....and Iam happy with production.Its not that clear but it's more fun to me because I still discovering new tons or backvocals with every listen....Iam finally more comfortable with Stay,but still think it's more Emergency Room song than Trio....absolutely understand it's lot of people's favorite though

 

Anyway....Demon & Division and Throw Me To The Lions for life

 

Stay I'm in love with because it's Dan through and through. Also, Wore So Thin reminds me of a song that could have been on Remains.

My routine for this is currently play the whole thing, skip nothing and repeat Krystalline a few more times at the end lol

 

Big fan of the production here. Really into this record.

 

I can’t get enough of Worn So Thin’s chorus. The way Dan sings “Just, calm, down” is infectious.

 

I've played this on my (pretty good) home speakers, my extremely bassy car speakers, and a whole lot on good quality headphones and I still don't like how the mix sounds. I could just be after different things than other people in this thread as far as production goes, there's some production choices on here I adore (those creepy keys chilling in the verses of Lions) and also a lot I dislike

 

people ranking MSIT in the bottom tier of Trio albums just doesn't make sense to me

but I'm not really that into MICF, goddammit or FHTI

Too early to rank ITTC for me

 

My Shame Is True > Is This Thing Cursed?> everything else .......It really depends on my mood which I like more at the time....but MSIT will be always first because I love everything about the story behind and can relate....ITTC? Second for now because it's fresh,it's dark and it's awesome
