Apparently Bardsley was booked for him "headbutting" Rashford and not the fact he kicked Rashford when he was off the pitch.

he was a buck passer towards the end at liverpool (the stamp versus united, etc), mix that with the paranoia of just being involved with rangers and you end up like that

  6. Not necessarily a bad loss, Watford have a strong team. But if we want to compete for a title we need at least a point there.

We played well. Really should have scored a lot more than 2. But look, we'll take it. Promising signs overall, international break should do us some good.

  8. I think I hate the reactions from Spurs fans after a loss more than the actual loss. It’s madness. Their worlds come crumbling down and the only thing they know how to do is crush the team and coaching staff. Spurs played fine yesterday. Obviously not the best performance but it wasn’t a “horror show” as I’ve seen fans and media describe it. I do think Poch waited too long to make changes, but that’s the biggest criticism I have.

Yesterday was certainly a disappointment but Watford are not a pushover. And everyone will find that traveling there will not be easy this season.

Spurs hadn't lost to them in the PL era I think, right ? I don't know what to think of yesterday tbh, Spurs were losing all the duels in the midfield/defense for a good 10 minutes leading to Deeney's goal. It was hard to watch and I'd say it partially explains the negativity. Watford aren't a weak team but after looking so dominant at Old Trafford, I expected more from Tottenham.

  10. I agree that 10 minute or so stretch was bad. That’s where I thought Poch waited too long to make a change. It was clear most of the game Dembele was struggling. We needed Dier or Winks on for him and Poch waited until we were losing to make the change. We had no control over the midfield during that stretch and Dembele’s struggles were a big reason why.

This is all football fans these days. Despite obviously being a mid table side these last two years, Wednesday fans have demanded wins every week and called for the managers head if we lose. The demand for instant success is crazy.

    I do not exist.

It's so hard not to get caught up in it.

Last season at Forest my only expectation was that we wouldn't get drawn in to a relegation battle and that we would end the season with the same manager that we started it. It was refreshing and took the pressure off me in my commitment to supporting the team. I was gutted when we sacked Warburton despite doing pretty well and playing young players.

Since then I've been disheartened with the way Karanka has gone about things. We've let a lot of the younger players go and we've brought in a whole new squad - I think this tactic rarely works as the team has lost it's core identity. I'm not calling for the manager's head and I actually want us to give him time but I am frustrated and have been disappointed with our inability to win/keep a clean sheet. So this is my admission that I've fallen into the trap of demanding instant success even though I know that isn't really achievable.

Football stops us thinking rationally sometimes, doesn't it?!

As an Arsenal fan, there isn't much to say right now. Terrible defence and awesome attack. Pretty much what I expected.

Actually wondering if Emery is hanging Cech out to dry on purpose, so that he can justify replacing him with Leno, or selling him completely. Our defence will look different with time to gel and get used to the system, and a goalkeeper they have more confidence in.

    hmmm

I don't think he needs to publicly justify replacing Cech. I imagine he just doesn't want to expose Leno to too much pressure early on behind that defence. Emery seems to know that he's got time there so he can be more careful with a player like Leno, knowing he's not going to get sacked mid-season. I think he's probably easing Leno in while the defence settles.

Yeah I'd probably agree. I am very interested to see how this team turns out.

I'd like to see us make a few changes next match really.

    ------------Leno ---------------
    Bellerin - Musti - Sokratis - Monreal
    --------Xhaka - Torreira ---------
    Ozil ------ Ramsey --- Aubameyang
    --------- Lacazette -------------

I think style of play is a big thin for fans as well. Karanka is known for being pretty negative and trying to hold on to 1 goal leads rather than looking to build on them. If you can’t hold on then it gets very frustrating. The obvious thing that fans want to see is the team pushing for a second goal.

Yes, that’s a frustration. It’s alright when you’re keeping the clean sheets but we seem to be conceding first every match and then trying to claw our way back in.

40,000 Spanish flags to be handed out for the Catalan derby between Barca and Girona in Miami. Oh, and the US national anthem will be played too...

Apparently Spurs fans at the next game are going to sing

    "He's from Seoul
    but he's not a soldier"

This is one of my new favourite chants immediately.
