We are having our active shooter training today. We just got out of an hour meeting overview of stuff and this afternoon we are doing live simulations. I'm not sure if it will involve shooting or just simulating the acts of response, but I can't even explain how uncomfortable all of this is. The fact that, as educators, we are in this position while politicians have made 0 meaningful changes since Columbine to prevent this is simply absurd.

I see googles response and I understand that Trump is wrong because of that, but this is one case where I at first thought it was a legit grievance. If they had linked a reminder everyone of Obama's, and then did not for Trump, I don't think you could argue that it wasn't an example of a legit bias. Of course it's now up to Trump to pull the video or issue a correction which of course he won't so the majority of his supporters will not know that it's a false claim.

We are having our active shooting PD later today too. Apparently last year they shot guns with blanks so, not looking forward to this.

This PD right now is awesome though, just a white professor crushing it on implicit bias and racism. And a lot of obvious discomfort from some of my older white colleagues.

Also saw someone speculate that maybe Mueller told them he’s no longer looking to have a conversation with Trump...which would be very bad news if that theory were true.

 

That was a major focus for us last year - we spent three days with Jen Cort. It was ok, obviously the content was great and made some people squirm in the best ways, but I just hate how PD never incorporates best practices for teaching. How long am I supposed to sit in this chair and be lectured to?
