I mean, they’re 2 bands that have now both gone in a more accessible, straight-rock type sound. I said I liked thrice’s album, so I’m not putting em down, and I admitted NA isn’t fantastic. I draw the comparison because thrice seem to still be doing quite well amongst their fans (rightfully so), whereas I think TBS should be doing even better than they are because, again, I think their transition was done very well. That’s obviously accounting for future albums too so I’m changing the conversation a bit, but hey it’s the TBS thread everything goes lol

i think every TBS album after WYWTB is varying degrees of mediocre so i probably shouldn't even post here

This is such a terrible take based on farts and incompetence. Which, hey, you’re free to think, but why be so proud of it?

I never took the position that it was different, therefore it got that reception. I think it was a good progression for them and I think the songs are good. It’s good songwriting and it’s a shame the band doesn’t see that. I think New Again set them on the path they are on now, which is that straightforward rock sound and I think they do it well.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Also, I really don't think Adam could handle a 2 hour show without sounding terrible by the end of the night. He's already pretty eh live, a 2 hour show will straight up sound awful by the end

The 'big news' is probably just them announcing an opener that they like.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I’m guessing they’ll announce one of the following:

    1) the openers
    2) Fred’s joining them for the shows
    3) Nathan (touring guitarist) joining as a full time member in Eddie’s place and/or another touring guitarist
    4) A new album that they’ve been secretly working on
    5) Some kind of contest for fans for these shows
    6) A VIP package for the shows
    7) The shows will be recorded

the vast majority of a fan base hated my favorite record of all time (adore by the smashing pumpkins). they were wrong

not saying this is the same thing necessarily but

I don’t like that band so this means nothing to me...

Openers seems the most likely big news. Are there any bands that have been away for a while that fit a TBS show that it would be considered "huge news" for them to come back and play a few shows? Straylight Run seems possible in that regard, that would be awesome.

I don't think VIP is a special announcement only because they and every artist ever does this now for all their tours.

Yeah the openers have never been considered big news before. In the past at least the first date’s lineup has been announced, and it’s always been modern chemistry.
Not that they’d be “big news” but their manager also managers saves the day.

I think saves the day would be big news, esp for fans in their 30s/40s who are still trying to live that emo life, but their initial tweet said “we have a feeling youll want to be at both nights” which means show 2 has something show 1 wont, and vice versa.

Different big openers or full album plays seem the most viable scenarios.

I've always loved Bonus Mosh. When I first listened to it (w/o lyrics), I was obsessed with the line "your the poster boy, their selling point, their focus for their new campaign" - but had no fucking idea what adam was saying.

Backing this, it’s amazing how hit or miss he is. When he’s on he’s amazing when he’s off.. he’s really off ha

these are one-off shows though (or...two-off in this case) i have always found him to be spot fucking ON during shows that are not part of a tour, because he isn't performing every single night and killing his voice.

but yeah, when he's off, it's bad.

Good guy, but a bad dude

I thought he sounded good recording on that doc they put out for Tidal Wave. However, as far as I know, he's still a fairly heavy smoker, which probably explains most of the bad nights.

oh i mean i love his singing, don't get me wrong, and i think he's sounded great on the last two records

I’m not sure what this means.. any person can be a vocalist. He has good range and a great iconic voice in the scene.. he just gets tired on tour.. which happens to a lot of great vocalist. Part of the problem was on their early work they just pushed their melodies higher and higher haha... but singing the tidal wave songs he sounds great bc they are comfortably in his range

I think (besides the parts that he clearly is pushing his voice like in Holy Water) the songs on TW are the types of songs he was meant to sing. it's really nothing too crazy, and it's easy for him to perform them live and not sound awful.

idk for me all of this just kinda ties back to adam only kinda reluctantly becoming the vocalist/frontman of this band way back when, which is what i meant by "never meant to be a vocalist." although the idea is falling apart the more i think about it lol
