I did Narnia first, then LOTR, then Harry Potter growing up. All three are so important to me.

Also, if you wanna see me have a mental breakdown, watch me during this USA-Colombia match at 9:30. I'm already insanely anxious and we're an hour from kick off.

Yeah I read Narnia when I was like...Idk...I wasn't even 11 lol. It felt so magical. I only read the first three. But I barely remember them. It's really been over a decade. O_o

The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman is the best love letter to Narnia ever. With beautiful nods at HP, LOTR, and many other fantasy properties.

I don't remember too much of what happens either, but I remember cuddling up with the books and loving them.

Is The Golden Compass any good? I never heard of it until the movie came out and it was made out to be like a militant atheist thing, which I now realize is probably an exaggeration

Is being a militant atheist thing necessarily a bad thing? I actually wasn't aware of that, may have to check out to see the themes explored and how it stacks up.

Haven't read or seen. What made it that way?

I don't think the books were anti-religion, I got the feeling they were more against the institution of organized religion and the corruption.

To spoil the end of the third book, I'm pretty sure the main character kills God. I haven't read them, but that's what I've heard.

As to the term "militant atheism"... atheism is fine. Just like any belief. But when you can describe it as "militant", as with any belief, is when it becomes an issue.

There was a big controversy when the movie was coming out about it being anti religion. I wasn't in the target audience so I never saw it read it, but I think it was more against church as an institution

I'm prepared for the backlash..I read the whole twilight series in a week and have seen every midnight showing for the movies. We even made shirts for the occasions.

I've read all four Twilight novels. It's a best seller in the genre (YA) I hope to eventually make my name in.

Just going by the wiki it doesn't seem miltant, though the killing god thing is strange.

I got to page nine of the first Twilight novel and quit, it was so dull.

I really liked those books when I was younger. As I said, I threw the amber spyglass and cried when I finished that book lmao. I haven't reread them to see if they hold up but I was super into them at the time. I was in middle school I think and they def changed the way I thought about things but I was also like 11 lol so it's prob not that earth shattering to an adult

The Prydain Chronicles were where it was at as a kid, in addition to the obvious series, and Redwall series as well.

I was obsessed with all of John Bellairs' books as a kid. The House With a Clock in Its Walls still holds up really well.

Oh, and Roald Dahl of course. I hope the BFG movie is good.

Ah, I didn't recognize the name of the book. I never heard from anyone who's read them.

I was all about Goosebumps and then Animorphs

I loved Redwall. I remember printing out a list of all the books to check them out from the library. I wonder how those hold up
