I’m not arguing, just stating an opinion on San Diego being a catchy track. Blink at their best

All The Small Things is my least favorite on Enema and was obviously the best choice for a single. Most of their singles weren't even in the top half of my favorites on the albums lol

San Diego is my favorite on California but I wouldn't have bet on it being a hit. Left Alone would've had a better chance than San Diego probably but I wouldn't bet on that either

Agree with this. ATST is basically my least favorite blink song but I get why it was a huge single.

I love San Diego but the three songs they chose make better singles. Heck, even songs like Sober, No Future, and Left Alone would be better single material. SD does what it does best, a non single gem on the album.

I feel like blink songs are baseline catchy enough that, combined with coming from their name, any song could maybe potentially do okay. But some songs are clear better single choices than others, and that’s not necessarily tied to quality.

Just think if they started that album cycle with bored to death, San Diego, then sober

San Diego would never have gotten any traction on the radio. The opening is too slow, the chorus is too wordy. I love the song, but idk why you are so obsessed with how it would have been a hit. It wouldn’t have.

I still don’t get the hate for Rabbit Hole I got so stoked to hear the record when they dropped that

I liked it when it came out and I think it did serve its purpose as a fanbase-bait song but when all the dust has settled it is a bit of a nothing song with nothing much to say. That's not to say it's terrible, just that it isn't much more than good.

To the point that honestly with all the discussion of singles above I had completely forgotten it got released until you mentioned it.

I think San Diego could have got huge traction on the radio! It’s by far the best song on that album

Letterbomb and Homecoming are the best songs on American Idiot, Wake Me Up When September Ends is the weakest. Which one was the hit song?

  14. “San Diego” would have seen very few adds on radio. Definitely not a single.

Great song, don’t get me wrong. But I definitely feel like it’s the weakest on the album.

When I consider my bottom tier songs, they’d be Holiday, She’s A Rebel, and Extraordinary Girl. And when any of those come on, I still don’t skip them.

I’ll always prefer blink to Green Day, but man, American Idiot was so good.

'San Diego' is about Tom? Honestly never even considered that but haven't really absorbed blink lyrics in over a decade

Oh yes, obviously he’s from San Diego so it’s quite easy to assume. I THINK there was some interview with Mark and he admitted Feldman forced him into writing/finishing the track, and the subject of the song is pretty apparent.

Adam’s Song is STILL played on the radio in San Diego. That song and Dammit. I’ve even heard M&M’s a few times. I’m convinced 91x hasn’t left the 90’s/early 2000’s.

  23. That really must be a so-cal thing. Here in Minneapolis you might hear ATST on radio once every few months.

Count me in on the crowd that loves San Diego but didn't think it would be a good single. I highly doubt the content matter of the song, which the mainstream/causal fan probably wouldn't get or pick up, would have brought the band anymore publicity than what they have been getting.

SOOHM was fine as the 2nd single to the album. The issue is it wasn't officially released as a single until October, which was after the band stopped their US California tour. They waited too long for whatever reason.

  25. I hear First Date on Alt Nation at least three times a week.

And I weirdly heard the Adventure on Alt Nation the other day
