When the Lillingtons played riot fest one of the “after-shows” was an early lillingtons show at beat kitchen.

You miss Menzingers acoustic aftershow on sunday!

But I did the same thing. I wanted to see Cap'n Jazz and Menzingers, so I went to Cap'n aftershow on friday and catch the full set of Menzinger at the fest on sunday, plus their aftershow

Sadly, I didn't know about Menzingers acoustic show on Sunday night, but I was exhausted by that point anyway after going to aftershows the previous 2 nights.

The worst/best for me was the year I did all three days and the Thursday AND MCS aftershows. MCS especially destroyed me on every level. Two days later I flew to Ireland and that whole month seems like a dream.

the Alexisonfire aftershow 3 years ago is to date the best show I've ever been to

The only aftershow I did was NFG/Bayside and I left halfway through NFG because I thought my legs were going to fall off.

I also did Menzingers at Gman too, but we didn’t originally plan for that one. We just downed our drinks, hopped in a Lyft, and ran in. We knew it’d be worth it.

I wholeheartedly agree with this comment.

That MCS final show was surreal for me too. By the time we got back to our hotel it was well past 3 and our flight home was 7am that day. So we had a 1 and a half hour “sleep” and made our way to the airport.

The announced-Day-of INVSN show on Saturday of last year is the only aftershow I’ve been to and it was god damn incredible, was inches away from Dennis the entire time. The intimacy of it was almost awkward, lol

It's because of the Jesse and the Rippers reunion. They had to wait for the Beach Boys to roll through town.

I just can’t believe the fest is like two weeks away and nothing. I’m not going to be able to request off work this late and I’m sure a lot of others are in the same boat if they’re just trying to go a day or two.

I requested the weekend off last November when I bought my tickets...If you're waiting until you have every bit of detail about a festival before requesting time off, you are festing wrong.

I mean, at $99, anyone who wanted to go to 2 days, should have already just bought a 3 day ticket. If you're local, and only wanted to go 1 day, I get the frustration there. Anyone traveling to Chicago for the weekend, likely planned on going to at least 2 days...and the $99 ticket was cheaper than 2 single day tickets would have been. So, again, 95% of people traveling don't really care (I mean...we care, because it's annoying to a degree) since long before the second wave was expected to come out, we bought tickets, booked rooms, and made travel arrangements.

Also, we're still technically *on schedule* based on past years for receiving the schedule/set times. Admittedly, the whole deal with mystery headliner, daily band list, single day tickets is weird... But, other than locals who have the option to only go to one day...I don't see this really hurting the general consumer who decided they were going before the lineup was announced, or even after the main lineup was announced.

Yeah I definitely agree. We've had this planned since we left Chicago last year coming from PA, so I'm definitely not as annoyed about it as others but I can see if you wanted to go one day and are local. Either way, I'm just excited for the fest and cannot wait to be there. Really curious if the headliner is going to be anything big or not. Who knows, maybe they got somebody awesome last minute! (Gotta stay hopeful)

I like how you use "every little deal" in place of "which bands are playing which day, the rest of the lineup, aftershows"

I mean, every year, the second wave has only been ten or so bands. If you haven't yet decided if you are going or not based on the 80+ announced bands...i'm pretty sure you never intended on going in the first place

I mean, if you want to see everyone, book flight to be in town before friday afternoon, fly home monday morning. Book hotel for Fri-Sat-Sun night, Thursday night as well if you get in the night before. If you're limited by work or whatever...then it doesn't matter who plays friday or Sunday night...you're going to miss them anyway if you have to fly out sunday or fly in after work on friday. The fest is Fri-Sun...you'll either be there, or you won't

If you're going all 3 days you really don't need the day to day schedule to book a hotel or flights.

We're getting in Friday afternoon and driving back Sunday night, which I'm really skeptical of, but we'll see, lol. Last year we went back Monday afternoon and it was a dream.
